Belgium clearly missed the inspirational defensive figure in Vermaelen.

All feyenoord players werent exactly good either.

In reality Sparta is the only club which can be pride for providing such great talents like deRoover.

Reflections on the game: (and the tournament)

Lombaerts: he may have been on the loosing team but that was an immense performance. great tackling and good on the ball too. Shame he missed Vermaelen as depsite Vetonghen giving Belgium an amazing ball playing defence, he was raped in the air.

De Roover: Can only remeber him getting beaten once this season and that was after a sublime touch from Ben Sahar. Good crossing also.

Pocognoli: Not as good defensively as De Roover but, is extremely skillful and good at crossing. Should be Belgiums left back.

De Mul: Changed my mind, is actually Cr@p.

Fellaini: Great player, but cannot finish for $h!t...

Mirallas: one of the strikers (if not the striker) of the tournament. Small, but was able to play alone up front. Technically extremely good and good finishing also. Added to that, he's only 19. The futures bright.

Van den borre: Showed everyone that he can still be a great player, needs to succeed in Italy though.

Haround and Blondel also did well although i doubt either of them will ever become starters for the national team.

So we see that deRoover hype was justified. I say surprise player of the tournament and warrants a place in the team of the tournament. Nice overview kevin.

Anyone seen Serbia-Belgium? Belgium were under pressure the first half hour but after it Belgium were awesome! Won 0-3.

Belgium seem to be finally unleashed, took a while, but by now they are actually better then anyone thought they would be. I mean we all thought they had to do it with Dembele as creative AM. NO! Suddenly DeBruyne popped out of the blue, what a great player this guy is. And they dont have any real weak spots anymore either. Even have two good goalies, and even Mirellas turned out good after all. And what a variety in their squad as well. Can play EPL football (Fellaini, Dembele Lukaku) can play tika taka (Hazard, Defour Debruyne, Mirellas)

Look on the first page, a lot of players played at the U21 in 2007. Compare that with Holland, a big fat 0! And that's what the U21 SHOULD be about, give TRUE talented players a chance to let them improve themselves rather then selecting big pacey(black) players just so one can win a U21 tourney!

Honestly I can see Belgium having a top 4 finish in 2014!

Was only able to catch the highlights. Hopefully this is a breakthrough moment for them. Amazing result, especially considering Hazard was ineffective. You forgot Witsel Fey. He can go under tiki-taka.

Also, nice that Fellaini, Vertonghen, and Mirallas have made the step up, from the u21s listed at the beginning. Pretty easy transition for Vertonghen and Fellaini, but Mirallas has developed a lot over the past couple of years after it appeared he was stalling.

Shame about Maarten Martens, thought he might be the best of the lot.

Witsel is indeed a great player, but everytime I see him, I think...that tackle. Mirallas turned out fine after all, didnt expect that after those dodgy club choices he made. Maartens is a good footballer as well, highly prone to injuries though.

Anyway, homegame against Scotland for the red devils, should be easy.

People getting a bit carried away over Belgium. Yes it was a good win over the Netherlands, but after that it has been Wales, Scotland, and Serbia.

They look to have a good set of players, dare I say "Golden Generation". There you go I jinxed them to fail Wink, but could we wait until they have done something before we start saying they are as good as spain, germany etc.

They might be not on a Spain level or a Germany one for that matter, but they have a lot of potential. I believe their total transfervalue is the 3th highest in Europe atm.
