International break? why!!? Empty International break? why!!?

why the hell is there now an international break? the season is just getting started, the players will want to get the matches in, they wont want to be joing up with the international squads, they've just been together 6 weeks FFS!

what is your take on it?

I totally agree, but then i couldn't really care less about international football right now. Having these matches when teams have only had 2 or 3 games is IMO a joke. ok

I like it because our start to the season has been crazy, and it'll give at least half the squad time to rest and work on their fitness.

i think it is a bit early. but for my club i'm not complaining too much, as it'll give martin o'neill some time to hopefully get some transfers in & sort out the squad a bit

It's a bit ridiculous, I agree. Though, secretly I'm very happy because it means that we don't have to play another 2-3 matches without Momo Very Happy

I suppose it gives Shola and Moore a chance to get back to fitness, but then our next game will be a at home to Fulham so it won't really make much difference. I do find a stuttering start to the season pretty annoying though. Evil or Very Mad

Yup. It's pissed me right off considering the hype that always surrounds the this part of the season. The only reason I welcome it is because I want one of our best players to recover.

    In general it's fucking ridiculous.

Yeah, this is going to be absolutely frustrating now.

I was just getting back into the club season too.

Still, at least it gives the likes of Robben, J.Cole time to get back ok

Not a fan of it, but it does give a couple of our players time to heal, Neville, Vidic and Heinze could all use the extra week. I also hope SAF enough sense to give Rio some virus of some sort to skip the Euro qualifier.

Arsene Wenger couple of seasons said this point

Why don't they play Wednesday --- then Saturday and not the other way round (so clubs will have at least 6 days with the players in time for the next game..)

I ahte international breaks, i find England boring to watch and really miss City and domestic football. Although at least the 2 weeks gives us the chance to get Cole, Trabelsi, Hamann, Isaksson all fit and bed in any new signings.

for us in Portugal is great.

We had the 1st fixture this weekend, and we still don't know who are the teams to be in 1st division!!!!

Benfica had no game, because the opponent would be Gil Vicente (civil court named), Belenenses (sports court and FIFA named) or Leixões (self named!!!).
