Sorry to rub it in to Liverpool fans,

But..........is that the first time Wigan have played one of the "Big 4" and come away with a result?

I believe so, in the league at least. They got a result against us in the Carling Cup a couple of years ago.

Awesome night. Arsenal fans shouting Ole as they passed the ball round Wigan, then with 5 minutes to go they scored to win on away goals. Very Happy

It says something when your idea of an 'awesome night' is one of your rivals reserve sides getting knocked out of the worthless Cup.

Glad to see that victory hasn't made you any less bitter!

It was the Ole's that made it all the sweeter, you wouldn't understand being a closet Arsenal fan. Razz

Reminds me of the FA cup final when they beat Saints due to a fluke early goal. With about 15 minutes left, Arsenal were passing the ball around maybe thirty yards from goal. The fans started the 'ole' chant so our players pressed them in midfield. The result? Arsenal passed the ball all the way back to their keeper, who then cleared and gave possession away, as the dopey Arsenal fans continued to chant 'ole'...

That was such a bad final, we were so flat after blowing it in the league. I went to every game of our cup run that year, including two trips to Old Trafford (the semi-final against Sheffield Utd was even worse than the final).

True, but the part about the crowd 'ole'-ing while the team passed it back to the keeper is completely true. If I'd been one of those fans, I'd be so embarrassed I'd never go out in public again. It's like cheering your soldiers as they wave a white flag...
