Man City - how far can they go?
So another win for City, they lie second in the table with 22 points from a possible 30, it's been a remarkable start for them, but can they keep it up? or will they gradually slide down the table?

If they can pick up an unwanted high quality striker in the winter who clicks then who knows.

depends on how their away form goes. pretty much all their points have been home wins. it's still too early to say anything for sure but they look a good shout for uefa cup

I agree, UEFA Cup spot IMO. But it's too early to say, and we'll have to wait until they've played some more games, as City do have a hard run of games coming up soon.

I think they can definitely stay in the top 4 if they keep up this form. I hope they do..!

I can hear you my english friends! :"Arnaud mate you're just trying to wind us up and you'll fail cos we don't give a f..k to your opinions. You know sh!t about football and continue to talk about the mediocre ligue 1 and your fucking PSG sh!t club"
Arnaud:"Oh dear,oh dear...please stay polite my friends and PSG is a very decent club...Just kidding i agree with you"
You all :"Only a FOOL could say something like City in CL! Why Arnaud, why ?"
Ok now i start my thread...We all know my friends the celeb song of the Beatles "City, champions league, are three words that don't go together well ect ect" right, you know this song don't you ? Great
As you surely know I have always been a huge Sven Goran Erickson fan.I do seriously think he has overachieved with the english national team during the last WC.I think a 1/4 final with a mediocre national team is something very honorable.Always thought you should give him praises for life for what he has done but you english have problems to say "we love you Sven, thanks for everything mate".He won 72% of his games with England.incredible!
You are the timid kind and you prefer to hide your true feelings about that and you decided to insult him in all your medias sh!t and in all the footie forums but tut tut..I know you aren't serious. You're just trying to hide your real feelings...You're so predictable it is incredible!
Well SG Erickson just signed for City and all the real football experts (i include myself)were very surprised and exicted with this great news.In the PL,it's not a secret you need a foreign coach if you want to have success.English coach are sh!t and the new City director seems to know that:Great news for the "blue moon"fans.
The first thing he has done that's to buy an italian forward,Bianchi,a Switz,Fernandes and a brazilain,Geovanni.I'm maybe a little bit tough about the english players but it is a well known sentence in football "the less english you have, the more good results you have".
He won a lot of trophys in his career but of course he is only a human! He can't do miracles..With average players you only have average results..Ericksson that's :

Re: Man City - how far can they go?
Depends what happens in January. If they bring in a top class striker in the form of Anelka or Mutu then there is a slight possibity of a top four place. It could depend on how seriously they take the Cups this season.
UEFA Cup would still be a great acheivement. Thats ultimately what I expect from them.

Re: Man City - how far can they go?
I expect City to finish fifth at the very least. So a UEFA Cup spot for them next season.
Sven's team has been playing some really awesome and watchable football and have to give full credit to him. Now will the buffoons in FA who fired him stand up.
Anyway they have been riding on Elano's magic for sometime. Also they need a one or two decent strikers (and let go of deadwood).
Given the fact that they have deep pockets now I think they will challenge for top 4 next season.

UEFA spot, they won't be able to maintain this level when fatigue sets in, because their squad depth is not that great.

Re: Man City - how far can they go?
So who thinks Man City can finish in the top 4?
Their home form is better than Liverpools at the moment.
With a couple of new signings in Jan i expect Man City's away form to be a lot better in the 2nd half of the season.
They alread have:
Nery Castillo
Valeri Bojinov - coming back from injury is like a new signing
Plus Rafa will soon start resting playing in the Premier League ahead of important Champions League games.

Re: Man City - how far can they go?
I honestly think its possible.
Would be great to see Liverpool in the UEFA cup next season
In reality though it'll take a hell of an effort and I think they might just come up short again.

I think this man city team is better than the Everton team that finished fourth a few years ago and is on the same level as the Tottenham side that finished fifth last season and the season before. If they strengthen then i think they can...

The next two months are important cos we lay Everton twice, West ham and Arsenal at home and U*d away, if we are still around the top 5 then, then i will start to believe cos after that most of our games are against bottom half teams.

Re: Man City - how far can they go?
I really like what Sven is doing, he is still easing players like Bianchi into the starting line-up while at the same time has bought a great alternative to his key players in Castillo (any idea when he makes his debut?). Loved his tactics against Newcastle, that game was won/lost on the drawing board, great substitutions as well. I think he will buy a defender and a big striker this month, and could push for a CL spot... its possible.
That said, this is Sven's first season, and I am sure a 5th/6th place finish will be very creditable. Like I said at the start, next season is when Sven will make a serious bid for a CL spot. This looks like a long term project, and Sgoater, you can look forward to some great seasons ahead.

Well, he hasn't played for a bit because the Ukrainian league finished at the start of December so he'll be way off match fitness.
At a guess, this weekend in the FA cup
