Probably the best hat-trick in the world.

too much of a solo-ist though, in my book. Great individually but sometimes you just shouted out: pass the ball!!!!

doesn't van persie remind u guys of rivaldo? People see him as a Bergkamp replacement but i think he is the closest thing to rivaldo at the moment in terms of style( but might not turn out to be as good).

Haven't been here for some time.

I see my van persie - rivaldo comparison is being laughed at . Now let me explain why i think they are similar:

If u analyse some of their main attributes- left footed ,can beat a man, can score goals and good crossers of the ball, u might think they are left wingers. But they aren't, their best position is as support strikers but they don't also fulfill that role the way typical support strikers should( if i remember correctly i think it was one of the reasons van gaal refused to play rivaldo in that role). They are both one of the most individualistic players in the world.

I mentioned their ability to beat a man, i think they are one of the few forwards who don't rely on pace at all to do so, they rely on technique and skill to do so. All the other forwards( ronaldo, henry, messi , robben etc) rely on pace in combination with skill and technique to beat a man.

I can't think of any forward at the moment that curls in a free kick with his left foot as rivaldo does/used to do with the exception of van persie- again another similarity; they both have a sweet left foot.

With all the similarities above, i can't think of anyone who has so much characteristics in common with rivaldo with the exception of RVP, hence why i think he is the most similar player to him at the moment that i know of

The biggest difference is the bow legs. VP doesn't have them ergo there is no magic in his legs ergo no basis for comparison.

    @ robert

Laughing That's no reason for them being not similar, please come up with something better.

    lol

Bow legs is all I got man!

Seriously though, I don't see them being simillar at all, maybe it is because i'm seeing them at different stages of their career. I never saw Rivaldo at the left wing, if he did happen to be there on the left then it was due to the freedom of his position as a supporting striker.

Another thing their dribbling styles are differentish. Rivaldo's was on bamboozling defenders, VP to me is based on balance and technical skill.

VP is very comfortable as an inside-right the way he plays for the Dutch whereas Rivaldo is more comfortable either as a second striker or an in the hole player simillar to Kaka's position for Milan at present.
