I though Arsenal might go quietly against Man U but I really can't believe the Liverpool result. A draw would have been surprising but a defeat? Bill Shankly will be turning in his grave.

Sorry Liverpool fans but this is just too much, I must join in too lol!

Having a bad season is one thing, but losing at home to Barnsley is quite another...maybe this was a motivational tactic by Benitez for the CL, since the players now know that it's basically all or nothing in that competition? Razz

4 clubs have scored 2 goals against Liverpool at home this season in all competitions. Spurs, Villa, Havant and Barnsley. Barnsley are the first side to score 2 goals and win a game. It actually makes you laugh just thinking abut how many smash and grabs Liverpool have witnessed this season.

They say it is better to be a lucky manager.

In this case Benitez is having the most rotten luck possible this season.

The match yesterday was a mirror image of so many games this season at anfield. Barnsley were just the latest in a long line of teams who have somehow defended everything we have thrown at them then grabbed a goal or two out of absoutely nothing. Normally it is carragher giving away a stupid penalty when an attacker is going nowhere.

It is unbelievably depressing, but Inter will come to save the day during the week Wink

Its not JUST luck, you need more than 1 clinical striker. So it proved in yesterdays match. On another day you could've battered them, but your lack of a clinical striker was a problem once again. That wasn't luck, that was bad business in the transfer window...

I think there have been quite a few goals at the death to save Liverpool from previous defeats/draws so I'm not convinced you've been that unlucky. Certainly Tottenham deserved a win as did we. You were lucky to get a win against Derby and Aston Villa away and Carragher had a run of games where penalties should have been given against him. The Chelsea penalty that was given at Anfield was cancelled out by the one that wasn't given at Stamford Bridge. To sum up I don't think it has been one way traffic on the luck side. It's just the manager rotating too much and playing home games cautiously in the same way as he plays away games.
I can however see Liverpool winning in the week, may even be a spectacular European night although that is unlikely given the strength of the opposition.

    lol! Don’t be silly.

There’s no point contemplating Liverpool actually winning anything this season, should just focus on finishing top4. Manchester United have given themselves a chance of winning a piece of silverware this season, okay 5pts behind Arsenal in the league it’s possible to catch up, joint favourites with Chelsea in the FA Cup and Champions League is another Cup competition where like last season they can do well in.

Why are the American owners blamed for the problems at Liverpool?, they don’t treat the club as a authoritarian regime telling Rafa who to play and who to sign.

I seem to remember some posters writing Chelsea off for trophys as well a couple of weeks ago as Liverpool were going to win the FA cup. I guess Chelsea are now being pencilled in to halt the march of the Mancs in the FA Cup while Tottenham and Arsenal take the other domestic trophies. Thanks I'll take that!

Soccer Saturday does provide the odd classic. During the Liverpool game Le Tissier was telling Stelling that Rafa was making a strange substitution by replacing the impressive Babel with Kewell. He then made a remark at how typical it was of Rafa to do that.

Stelling just responded with "Maybe that's why Rafa is one of the best managers in the world, and you're sat in on a Saturday afternoon."

Le Tissier was left with a red face for a good few minutes. Very Happy

Stelling just responded with "Maybe that's why Rafa is one of the best managers in the world, and you're sat in on a Saturday afternoon."

Le Tissier was left with a red face for a good few minutes. Very Happy

One of the 'best managers in the world' lost to a mid table Championship side. If anyone should have a red face it is him! Perhaps Le Tiss made a valid point, he was never appreciated enough as a player, one of the few class acts England had. Now his punditry is being questioned.
