I was watching the L'Arse-Spuds game at the weekend with a Liverpool supporting friend and I said to him that the CL may well end up determining who wins the league, because Man U have the easier run in on paper but with the relegation battle being what it is you can't easily predict how difficult opponents are going to be from one week to the next.

Liverpool have it comparatively easier in the round of 16, which means they're a lot more likely to progress. If Inter put Man U out (a distinct possibility, given how second-rate Man U's form is) then they'll almost certainly win the league.

Beware of Real Madrid. Under Ramos we have developed the uncanny ability to bore teams to death. Benitez might feel like he's in the twilight zone, since another team will do to Liverpool what Liverpool do to others. He might freak out so badly that he'll take out Torres for Egnogg in a moment of confusion and then run out of the stadium to hide under a rock. Mark my words.

how is Madrid going to be a breeze? Haven't they moved up from 5th to 2nd since the draw was made? That's better form than our 15 point swing or whatever it is.

Robben has looked unplayable lately, Inter aren't that hot but I suppose they have the Mourinho factor which will probably force Fergle to make a couple of stops at Oddbins on the way to the match.

Well I think people have the idea that Inter this year will finally get it together in the Cl allthough they have actually been worse this year then in the past 2 seasons. Real however has been a circus both this year and in the last couple of years so I fully understand.

But I agree with Saints about Cl as I discussed it with a Man Utd friend of mine Liverpool won't be able to compete in both Cl and EPl at the same time. Allthough perhaps if Liverpool go out in the Quarters they could still do it.

League form isn't really a great indicator of CL form.

Mourinho factor is overplayed. He is no tactical genius, he is just using the same tactics as Mancini.

Man Utd have got to the semi finals in the last 2 seasons.

In the last 4 seasons, Liverpool have got to the semis 3 times.

Its not impossible that these two teams get there again.

This made me chuckle, still whilst Robben is looking more & more like 2004-05 Robben, if Liverpool eliminate his threat, I'm not sure how you can hurt them.

Gerrard's injury does tip the balance somewhat, but, they are still the favourites for me.

Doing what they always do, pressure him high, double him at appropriate times, don't give him the chance to counter, using their brilliant offside trap to great effect, make sure Reina doesn't get into any off the ball incidents with him Wink.

It's not like he an unknown quantity to them either.
