Boro check out Chimbonda Empty Boro check out Chimbonda

    Post by Sgoater1 Tue Aug 08, 2006 5:30 pm

Skysports.com understand Middlesbrough have joined the chase for Wigan's Pascal Chimbonda.

Wigan and Tottenham are at loggerheads over Chimbonda with The Latics demanding an initial £3.75 million fee for the defender plus an extra £1 million in appearances.

The deadlock between Wigan and Tottenham has alerted other clubs and Middlesbrough could now be ready to make a move for Chimbonda.

Middlesbrough are thought to be in the market for a new right back with young pair Tony McMahon and Stuart Parnaby currently battling it out for a place at full back.

Riverside boss Gareth Southgate could be keen on bringing in a more experienced defender and Chimbonda would fit the bill.

Southgate has been surprisingly quiet in the transfer market so far this summer and he would have the money available to meet Wigan's asking price for Chimbonda.

Chimbonda is determined to clinch a move away from Wigan as soon as possible after being heckled by Latics supporters during last weekend's friendly with Halifax.

I think he'd be a decent signing, especially if you get in Huth or Distin.

If we get Huth or DIstin yeh...otherwise its spending money when it could be spent better elsewhere.

We dont have a good young right back aswell

    Agreed, same as Trabelsi.

But are excellent players, but I really wouldn't want them for my team...

Arca come on. any team could have gotten arca he was on is why to Esp... but thier club wanted more money.

they lost 4-0 today against a dutch team. and the season is just two weeks away from kicking of these things should not still be happen. and i'm noth saying they should win all of thier pre-season games. but for and unproven manager you would thing i would have to hit the groud running when the season kicks off. but built the team confidence in him and for his own self confidence

Not in the slighest, im showing that your comments mean nothing.

As pre-season results mean about as much as coming 2nd in the world cup final.

Apparently one the Middlesborough players conceded a penalty and got a red card to boot.

This prompted the Heerenveen manager to leave the dug-out and have a tete-a-tete with the referee....he tried to have the red card downgraded to a yellow....

A mate of mine who is a lower league referee told me that even at these friendlies there will/might be observers from our FA to judge the referees and they have orders that the rules have to be enforced strictly Shocked

    ....madness !

Good of the manager to try and get him downgraded aswell, shame it never worked.
