Anyway Gerrard is injured for tomorrow!
The papers have their excuse already if England loses! Ale

Doubt they will lose, this Dutch team is so poor! Hell I think our U-21 aint much worse!
Why would we lose? this team is good enough to beat England and it doesn't differ that much from the team that beat France and Italy with 7-1!

    Under 21's game was a 0-0.

The problem is we just don't hate the Dutch enough. Which got me thinking:

They unfairly knocked us out of World Cup 1994, thanks to Ronald Koeman's blatant foul on Platt in the penalty area which was missed by the ref in the qualifier in Rotterdam and would have seen Koeman (who later scored a free kick) sent off and England awarded a penalty at 0-0.

Yet we forgive them because they actually saved us the embarrassment of going to the USA with a team that included Carlton Palmer and Andy Sinton in midfield and almost certainly would have been humiliated on a global level.

Equally, we were at war with the Dutch for a very long time during the colonial era, but we forgive them because the nasty Germans came along in 1914 and 1939 respectively and suddenly the idea of a few of our sailors in some far away sea having a scuffle with the Dutch over treasure chests of Spanish gold, all to the backdrop of the Carribean, didn't seem like such a bad gig in comparison with soldiers dying in trenches and London being bombed every night.

Nowadays they provide us with nothing more harmful than Tiesto, marijuana and Live beastiality.

They've also given English football Dennis Bergkamp, Martin Jol and Glenn Helder.

When Rijkaard gobbed into Rudi Voeller's enormous blonde Tina Turneresque perm, we collectively giggled at those krayshee foolshhhh.

When they were wowing everyone with their flair and looking goddam cool in those orange shirts to boot, we willed them to win, especially as during the 70's England were gashtastic.

We admired and empathised with their heroic failure to win tournaments, coming so close yet so far. Here was a nation who like England made underachievement an art form. But at the time did it with even more style.

The friendship was finally cemented once and for all in 1996 when they came to England and rolled over at Wembley. Made all the more entertaining by fielding a player called De Cock.

So now, what we are left with is a total, tepid lack of rivalry. We both want a crack at the Germans. An England V Holland game is more like a kick about in the park with your mates. Playing Germany is like taking on the loudmouthed kids from the estate down the road, with their gold chains and big time reputation.

The under 21's highlighted the pointlessness of a Holland England game. I don't have much hope for anything more fierce tonight. expect lots of timid challenges and handshakes Ale

No offense mate but how has this team a 100% record. It's absolutely stinking average Laughing RVP aside and i guess Robben on his day that is minus x factor quality.

Have to agree that it doesn't look too impressive, especially at the back. Also there be must be somebody out there who can play in striker position other then Huntelaar. Perhaps it works well as a team or perhaps the qualifiers are just weak.

The back *is* very suspect, but for some reason we're conceding extremely few goals.

My bet is that it's because of the two DM's, we have a sheer endless supply of DM's who also are good in combinations / passing (Schaars and Von Bommel injured => on comes De Zeeuw).

    Super De La Red wrote:

I'm praying for the return of Ruud.

If Van Marwijk gives them room to roam, this lineup works very well (no real striker, yet different players will move into that position fluidly). If he commands Dirk to stay deep in his striker role....it's a disaster.

    Super De La Red wrote:

    Both Ale

The last factor that's not visible in this lineup : VDV instead of Sneijder makes for an extra striker and a whole lot of extra creativity. Apparently we're going for Lampards strikes from distance against England (keeper pinpointed as weak spot ?).

I have to agree with this, its a very poor side. Say what you like about RVN but he was good for Holland in his last days, now we have Huntelaar. An even bigger loss is van der Saar Ale

Holland will be very shite for the next years, Keeper, defense, striker..all key positions!

Central midfield is decent at best, attacking midfield is good though. you can solve the striker problem by putting RVP as central striker. The only two world class players this team has are RVP and Kuyt and I dont say that cause they are from Feyenoord.

Gio and Boula are injured, but Gio dont deserved to play in this form..

BTW, the police expects lots of fighting tonight!

They were on a similar level and still are. Lennon has a bit more "explosiveness" to him, so for England he would be better. Neither really impress me. I know you like to act like you've been proved right in the Lennon debate, but his stats are still shite.

    Between you rowdy dutchies ?

The jews got beaten by some english firms in pre-season so they want to get their revange.

Sadly for them a few nutters came to Rotterdam earlier this week and were just shooting around. So obviously Feyenoord supporters are there for some action.

And to top that there are some english clubs fighting eachother!
