    Holland - England 2-1-1 Empty Holland - England 2-1-1

Post by Ricardo Jol Wed Aug 09, 2006 10:32 am

Yesterday the English sides didn't really perform again...

    Heerenveen - Boro 4-0

    Nec - Villa 2-1

    Den Haag - Sheffield 2-2

    Feyenoord - Chelsea 0-1

Boro also lost to feyenoord 0-2, Newcastle lost to PSV...
every team in England has a higher budget to spent than the Dutch teams and still they cannot win....

Whats wrong with the England Premiership?

Well, for a start they're friendlies, secondly all the EPL teams were away from home.

When is the dutch league starting?

Maybe the dutch players are more match fit?

ricardo whilst the EPL may be overdone on here this is completely meaningless, so what they lose a few pre-season friendlies i expect the Dutch sides have Celtic syndrome must beat english clubs regardless of using them for giving players a run out and ensuring all are match fit which i´m sure the english clubs will have done

Well I understand that lesser teams are more hungry to win friendlies than better teams but 4 or 5-0 against very small budget clubs is worrying though...

Arsenal played AZ and won 3-0 while they played on half power... Those results must be normal...

how could it possibly be worrying.. it was 0-0 at halftime whenever a team that half resembled first choice was on the pitch... then the subs where made and by the time the last 3 goals went in there were players on the pitch who i haven't even heard of and who will not kick a ball all season... why would i be worried in the slightest frank???

Didn't man united win the Amsterdam tournament? Against Ajax, Inter, porto etc, so surely they are now favourties to win the CL?

2 of their best players might be suspended for red cards, and carrick is injured. If they had a choice, maybe they would have preferred to lose 5-0 and have all the players available for the EPL when it matters?

COTR its worrying cos some of your players have had v little playing time pre-season, you and obispo have continually put a non challenge last season down to a poor start, if they aren´t ready then you could have the same prob this season, you cannot afford to be dropping cheap points from the outset it´ll leave you too much to do

and remind me which of these wont get any playing time and who´ve you never heard of

    Scott Carson
    Djimi Traore (ok he´s gone)
    Jamie Carragher
    Sami Hyypia
    Jan Kromkamp
    Boudewijn Zenden
    Xabi Alonso
    Steven Gerrard
    Jermaine Pennant
    Craig Bellamy
    Peter Crouch
    SUBS :
    Paul Anderson
Salif Diao (ok he wants to sell him)
    Jerzy Dudek
    Luis Garcia
    Jack Hobbs
    Gabriel Paletta
Lee Peltier (he is the only player i don´t know)
    John Arne Riise
    Momo Sissoko

Sorry CotR, I can't really be bothered with replying to people who think puttng 3 goals past a defence of Peltier-Paletta-Hobbs-Traore is a great performance.

I'll take consolation with the fact that despite not being able to do "anything in europe" - so 2005 was just a dream?! - We still made it as far as ANY German side last year... And any Dutch side.

But, of course, winning the champions league and the FA cup - that's the cup Spurs want to win Ricardo Smile - Pre-season friendlies against Mainz are a true test of a teams quality.
