Good, solid performance from us again. Less gusto than vs City but very comfortable throughout. Henderson and Coutinho have stepped up to another level this season. Sterling and Sturridge can still do more for me.

Annoying that everyone else won but as Coater said I really can't see how United won't drop points in the next month. Obviously we are going to dip at some stage - we've had title winning form since the turn of the year - it's going to end at some point but if we can get ourselves a good 5 points or so clear of United/Spurs soon then I'd be confident we can make the top 4.

The statement on the official website read: 'Having woken up this morning I am shocked to have seen the media coverage from last night's match. I would like to make it clear that I did not spit at Papiss Cisse.

'I was totally unaware of any spitting incident and had assumed that the issue at the time was with the challenge and his attempted retaliation to the tackle from the floor. During the game Papiss Cisse and I spoke about the incident and it is clear by my reaction in the television footage that I was totally surprised by any suggestion of spitting.

'It is not in my character or in my nature to spit at anybody nor is it something I have ever done or would ever do. It is certainly not something that I did last night.'

Why? It's effectively the same thing but with teeth.

Evans should get a longer ban for denying it, and there's an argument that Cisse's should be reduced as it was retaliation like Matic. Though we haven't been whinging that the FA hate us for months like Chelsea so that is unlikely. Cisse should also be fined by the club for spitting rather than nutting his nose into his brain.

Spitting is overrated. Lets be honest 22 men running on a pitch, exchanging all kinds of body fluids, who cares about a little spit.

Cisse gets a 7 match ban, so Evans should be getting even more .
