2015 is the year of the Vardy.

10 goals in 10 games in the PL to equal Van Horse Face's record. 5 years ago was playing non league football. Rocky Balboa stuff. Hollywood script narrative, they should make a movie with Ryan Gosling playing him.

In other news, I can't be the only one who thought Barkley was older than 21. Especially after listening to the likes of Puro writing him off as if he a journey man deep into his career. Watching Everton this season he is looking superb, 2 goals and and assist today so far (5 and 4 for the season) in fact as a team this is a really decent Everton side - move the ball around really well and incisive infront of goal.

They don't have a deep squad but this starting eleven is minimum top 6, absolute minimum.

Really? I thought we are actually fine, especially when we don't play Europe League. Our starting GK sucks (and back up is only a little bit better), but the fact that we are doing well this season despite plenty of injuries in back line shows our bench players are solid. We have a solid collection of wingers, Kone can probably replace Lukaku when needed and we can always move Deulofeu (who is really starting to play well) to the centre if Barkley would be absent.

Mangala and Demechelis putting in possibly the worst centre back performance I've ever seen, and that's after having watched Chiriches and Fazio play together. Abysmal stuff. Nice football from Liverpool though, but they've hardly needed to break sweat due to the sheer awfulness of that back line.

Stinger - Compared to us and Liverpool, your squad looks light IMO. Darren Gibson came on today ffs.

He got a run because of 4-0 score, we would probably use different subs if change in CM would be needed when game would be on the line.

Unless we don't play Hibbert or McGeady I am content. Today we also had Cleverley on the bench, who's coming back from injury and who is very useful squad player. Gibson can be helpful too... if for once he will stay injury free for more than few weeks.

You have players like Eric Dier and Ryan Mason for CM spot and former even made it for England NT despite being quite average. Danny Rose is your starting LB. List goes on...

Dier is a good player, very high IQ. He plays like Matic (when he was playing well).

Danny Rose is also much improved from 18 months ago.

Rose was your best player after Lloris and Kane last season? Really? Ahead of Vertonghen or Eriksen or Chadli (Walker had a poor season for his standards, he looks like he regain his form now)?

Regardng Dier - you can be solid and average at the same time. McCarthy is this way I guess.

And it all started because we gave Gibson 10 minutes to improve his match fitness when leading 4:0 Laugh

    1. Kane, 2. Lloris, 3. Rose, 4. Bentaleb, 5. Eriksen, 6. Chadli
Vertonghen was poor as our entire defence apart from Rose.
Walker comes off two bad seasons with injury issues, been good this season. Injury free and has raised his game with the signing of Trippier.
His style has changed a lot since his breakthrough back when he won young Premier League player award, now more solid while he back then was more enthusiastic going forward.

Oh surprise surprise, here comes Fey claiming Dier - a Spurs player - is not only average, but actually shite. Laughing

Do love this board though, guess that's what it is all about: different opinions, and in this case utterly mental opinions removed from reality!

Well I guess if you think Dier is average/shite and nothing more than a James McCarthy 2.0 (despite being clearly a much better player at a considerably younger age already) then yes, nothing to worry about from Spurs.

But I do worry about Spurs - well drilled team consisting of average players with some extra quality here and there can be very dangerous. Plus as you know (or not) I have a very high opinion on Pochettino since his Espanyol days.

I just disagree that we have lighter squad, especially when including the fact that we are Europe League free.

The media spotlight will be on the usual suspects (Kane for his goal scoring, Alli as the young English hope, Alderwiereld for plugging our leaky defence), but for me the real standout player at Spurs right now is Mousa Dembele. Finally seems to have come through physically from the hip issue and subsequent operation beginning of last season, is now consistently playing the best football of his career. He and Dier are dominating midfields together enabling Alli to link up with Kane and Eriksen to great effect. Fabulous footballer, can beat a man with a simple drop of the shoulder with such ease. up to now just hasn't had much consistency. If he can stay fit and maintain this form, not many midfields are going to wrestle control against us.

Dembele was always elegant and nice to watch (I had a football crush on him even before he was sold to Fulham), but injuries and lack of consistency stopped him from developing to his maximum potential. But he is doing great this season and his technique is still awesome. His close control and dribbling ability has to be close to world top for a deep lying central midfielder.

In match like against WHU it's interesting to look at Spurs formation - Dier was playing very close to Belgium CBs (but not making back 3, more like back triangle) and full backs were really pushing up. You used ridiculously high line, which of course was the best idea possible because of Andy Carroll as a lone striker in opposing team. It had their own risks (Sakho and Moses could in theory exploit it), but Rose and Walker have a very good recovery pace to counter it.
