I saw the Zidane film at a preview last Sunday, and all I can say is what a complete waste of time.
I didn't learn anything new about Zidane. There is a complete lack of context to the film (for instance it doesn't even tell you who Madrid are playing).
The only thing I learnt about Zidane from this film was that he spits alot, he sometimes drags his toes when he walks and that's about it frankly.
There are a few pointless pseudo-philosphical barbs of wisdom from Zidane - which in typically pompous art-house fashion come only in subtitles.
What makes matters worse is the dreadful cinematography, which fails to keep Zidane in focus for longer 10 seconds before cutting to the next arty-farty shot.
The film may work as an audio-visual installation in a modern art museum, but as piece of cinema, it's rubbish.

I never imagined it would be very good since the camera is on him and only on him and I understand there are plenty of facial shots. Not very interesting to me.

God, how bad is 606 now!

Finally got round to this a few weeks ago. Utterly mesmerizing once you get into it, more a work of art than a filum.

Saw it last night on iplayer, quite liked it, music is really good (Mogwai if anyone is wandering).

You do notice more things about Zidane that perhaps you wouldn't have
noticed before, but it is definitely more a work of art than an
outright film.

Beckham and Owen are in the film too, its brilliant! And Pavon, who
makes a really good tackle but is penalised for it, and Zidane tells
the ref 'You should be ashamed' - what a good lad.

Was there anything special about that game against Villareal?

I saw this in an arty cinema back when it came out. A bunch of the people there walked out when they realised what it was going to be like.

I enjoyed it, but don't think I would have finished the thing if it'd been on DVD. It worked with the feeling of sitting in a near-empty cinema, and just mulling things over. It was noticeable how little of the ball he saw, and when you can't see the result of each pass, just him hovering into space picking the ball up and moving it on, his game looks very economical. Soundtrack was excellent, the random nuggets of wisdom from Zidane were pretty useless.

iirc he either scored or got an assist for the equaliser, Salgado scored the winner (no, really), then Zidane got himself pointlessly sent off at the end. That was probably the best bit, because having spent bloody ages staring at him, it really gets across the gap between him and the viewer/voyeur.

Watched a bit of this too. Was amazed at how boring being part of a match looked when you watched Zidane just jogging round the pitch waiting for the ball to come to him.

Could only watch 10 mins because it became boring very quickly.

Tried to download it on E-Mule a while ago and I ended up getting a disgusting & shocking amateur porn from Austria or Germany where old dudes where sh---g in women mouth. Never tried to download it after. Heard it was not that good, and quite boring.

Not the best Mogwai CD..but its a very good for a soundtrack!

I tried to watch a bit of this film but it was sooooooooo boring, even more boring than a Liverpool game.
