Inter eye summer Gerrard capture

Inter Milan plan to rival Juventus in the race to sign Liverpool's Steven Gerrard when the transfer window opens at the end of the season.

According to reports in Italy, Inter president Massimo Moratti is planning a major bid for the Reds captain when the transfer window re-opens in the summer.

The Italian club's directors Lele Oriali and Marco Branca travelled to England in February to visit Liverpool games and to run the rule over Gerrard.

Inter, who are flying high at the top of Serie A, are still in talks with Real Madrid's Mahamadou Diarra but Moratti is hopeful to test Liverpool's resolve over Gerrard.

The news will alarm Juventus whose coach Didier Deschamps went public over his interest for the England ace last week.

This gotta be just a rumour... or maybe Inter are just trying to make things difficult for Juve....

What a joke, he chickened out of a move to Chelsea, he won't go to Inter Milan for the same reasons.

Any opportunity of Gerrard leaving went two summers ago. His relationship with Rafa's improved immenesly. Can't see him wanting to leave either.

Best off going for Ronaldo FC.

It would do the Portuguese national team good if he played for a big side with heightened expectations, instead of a team who hasn't made it to the last 8 in Europe for 4 seasons.

Oh yeah, Moratti always wants big, and this summer can be a record breaking one..

He means BIG and in size of player I think - Diarra is hardly in the same league as Gerrard in terms of a big name signing

the only thing I can find is an interview with Marco Branca in January where he gets a brief mention

That's where the rumours of Inter eyeing Gerrard were obtained, not saying he is definitely going to go .. which i doubt.

From a tactical point of view - why sign Gerrard when Dejan Stankovic is already there?

In my view, Stank > Gerrard

I know most EPL fans will not agree. But thats what I think, and most Serie A fans would agree. Stank is so under rated!

I dont think he will suit Italy (on the topic) , I personally think a bit more tactical awareness is needed in Italy.
