    Adios Beckham! Empty Adios Beckham!

Post by TM Sat Jun 23, 2007 1:21 pm

    On SS1 today (11, 5.30 and 11pm)

Watched it this morning - some emotional stuff. Not the best farewell programme i've ever seen, but was class.

Some key points raised that Becks really started adapting in the second half of the second season and start of the third season. He interacted more with the players.

Main problem in Becks move was his inability to learn Spainish, which if he had done intially would have been even more successful time in spain ok

Roberto Carlos, Figo took care of Becks in his first year of living in spain, whilst Posh and fam where in england, and he made a really good friend in Zizou.

If you haven't catched it, it's a worth a watch, interviews with Zizou, Roberto Carlos, Senor Perez.

Adios Becks, thanks for the memories Ale

To be honest my friend, i don't have a clue.

With Calderon and Pedja at the helm, im shitting myself Very Happy

Names mentioned: Jesus Navas, Quaresma, Ribery etc

Will have to wait and see i suppose.

We really need to get in two CB's and a LB first! Metzelder signed up another class CB is needed: Andrade/Milito and Sergio Sanchez (youth player with much promise).

Left back according to Parky we've signed up Henize for 5M pounds, but i'd rather have Puerta with Torres understudy with Marcelo out on loan to Espanyol.

Most of all we need a big squad if we want to retain our title next season and go far in the CL, with Barca making sensible signings (bar Henry) it looks like they've stepped up their game.

Calderon should just give up and leave Real with some dignity intact. It's embrassing they way he's obessed with Kaka.

It's a shame Joaquin didn't stay in Betis for one more season, because this would have been the perfect time to buy him. Though admittedly, Valencia paid a bit too much for him.

Personally, I hope we get Quaresma. I'm a huge fan of his.

There really are not a lot of good options. Ribery was mentioned before he signed with Bayern but Pierre says he's only good on the left side anyhow. Jesus Navas, mentioned by TM, has got too many problems to survive at a club like Real Madrid.

Quaresma is the name that keeps popping up but he is linked with Atletico and some other teams as well.

Who else is there? Joaquin will not be moving from Valencia at this point. Xabi Prieto might be available with Sociedad going down to the second division but I'm not sure he is good enough. Some of our young players like Balboa or Nieto are not ready yet. Mancini of Roma has been mentioned (in AS...so take that for it is worth) in recent days which could be an interesting possibility.

The only other possibilty would be to keep Reyes or get Robben and use them on the right side.

I think we desperately need a RW who can cross. In the left wing we'll have Robinho and possibly Reyes, neither of who is good at crossing. To get some variation in our play, a good crosser should be a priority IMO. Quaresma is good at crossing in both the left and right wing, since in the left wing he can cross with the outside of his foot (there's a name for this but I forgot what it's called)

Yeah i use to be great at crossing the ball with the outside of my foot, until i injuried myself trying to do that, done my ligaments in on hard turf, never tried it since.

no that is the one where you take your foot around the other foot. maradona did that a couple of times i think. what quaresma does is called something like trievela(or something with tri).

That's it. Spelling isn't right, but very similar. Can't remember the exact spelling. Maybe our Portuguese friends can help us, since I believe that's where the name comes from.

    loved the Roberto Carlos interview

"when i heard Beckham was going to sign , i made it my duty to tell the public a very good player is on his way .. not a salesman" or something like that

How in GODS name did Beckham communicate with Ronaldo , Zidane and Carlos

Figo speaks English i know , but the other 3

Probably Woodgate since he had nothing else to do anyway and actually learned a lot of Spanish within his first few months.
