They at least have a good defence to build on.

It's in midfield and up front they need improvements, especially in the striker department.

    MUST PLAY STEPHEN IRELAND!!

Yeah the defence is good but we only have Danny Mills, Matt Mills and Sun J as back up and id like ot get rid of D Mills, so i think we need a Cb and a left back.

Midfield needs a complete overhaul, the only 3 decent mids we have are Ireland, Johnson and Hamann imo.

This would be a great squad:

    --------------Isaksson---------------

    Onouha---Richards---Dunne----Bridge

    SWP------Flood-----*****----Beasley

    ----------+++++----N/S--------------

    ***** = ground covering midfielder

+++++ = one of the existing strikers

N/S = new striker, someone prolific

Flood left mate and Beasley has gone back to PSV, which is a shame.

Mpenza, Samaras and Vas are still decent i think if we can add one or two more then we'd have a good strike force. Plus Danny Sturridge should be getting nearer to first team next year.

He went to Cardiff last summer and was a sub for most of the season, so he has just gone on loan to Dundee Utd for next season.

I think you only need one striker, but you have to get it right. The others are good players, but none of them are prolific. If you got a reasonably consistent goalscorer and a new midfielder capable of reaching or getting close to double figures then you'll be fine. In that respect, anyway. Fortunately, you don't have a particularly big squad so there's plenty of space for Sven to fill up with improvements. I think he could be the signing of the summer - always rated him as a club manager, regardless of the ludicrous England team he produced.

I think Bent would do quite well at Citeh... for the moment. As a prolific goalscorer.

And it would fit Sven's record of hiring through sheer buying power.

But is Sven going to play any English talents or is he going for foreign alternatives? Good question indeed.

I think he will buy a mixture of players from the EPL, English talent and players from abroad, i dont htink he will get stuck just buying from one market.

I think Bent would also play well with Mpenza, so e could be a good call. However, £14m is a lot of money and i think we could get better value buying other players.

he cant get his games back out there and City wants a goalscorer. what a good signing it could be for City.

I agree. Samaras has the potential and athleticism to prosper in the EPL. I'm really looking forward to seeing how Sven's stewardship of City goes.

Man City has - like I said to Kimbo about Newcastle - the infrastructure to be challenging for a CL spot, I think...

I wouldnt have thought we could get him but who knows, it depends how much Liverpool bid and how much he wants to leave. I read that he was happy at WH but doesnt like Curbs and doesnt trust him, its a long shot but we will have to wait and see. I think he is a quality player and would be a brilliant signing for anything under £6m.
