previously THE Bundesliga club for Brazilian players, Leverkusen have decided to go GERMAN now

    cheers

remember, it was Bayer who had Lucio, Ze Roberto, Sergio, Emerson, Juan and truckloads of other Brazilians in their team

now the last three are going

Juan is off to Italy, Roque Junior and Athirson are off as well

    instead

    the club is going DEUTSCH

and very young (average age 24)

they just bought Sinkiewicz, M. Friedrich and intend to add the super-striker Helmes to that list ( word has it they will increase their offer to Cologne to get him NOW)

so far, they have EIGHT potential German internationals

    cheers cheers cheers cheers

whereas Werder are going Brazilian, Leverkusen are going German

guess which team will be ahead in 2 to 3 years Question

good work by Voeller and Skibbe

and certainly a club that now deserve my FULL SUPPORT

Werder has still more German players in the squad than Leverkusen, they are just making up for their past "sins". Wink

Good move by Leverkusen, they have really strenghtened their squad this summer, and prefering German youngsters is always a plus. The German players who would help Werder are simply not available unfortunately. There is a difference between a UEFA Cup team (4-5th in the league tops) and a team challenging for the title every year, although I can see Leverkusen doing very well next season.

I am genuinely impressed by Bayer

once they were this company, plastic club

then Calmund, Daum and Toppmoeller added flair and at times excess

now the " healthy" consolidation years have begun under Voeller and Skibbe

an excellent partnership based on trust

Bayer have young upcoming internationals like Castro, Adler, Kiessling, Rolfes and soon Helmes

+ experienced old heads like Ramelow and Schneider

+ players in between: Sinkiewizc and Friedrich

    es entsteht da was

add the future extension of the stadium and Leverkusen are here to stay

the whiff of the articificial plastic club is long gone

    maybe a blueprint for Wolfsburg

It's not about going brazilian, it's about signing quality players. When Leverkusen had quality brazilian players they were always playing in the UCL. Then they lost Lúcio and Zé Roberto and signed Roque Junior and Athirson.

BTW nice to see Bayern recognizing their terrible mistake. Letting Zé Roberto leave was a very stupid decision.

It was indeed sheva. Some Bayern fans think that Ze Roberto is their most important signing this summer, I kid you not.

I forgot to thank Bayer for bringing Paulo Rink to Bundesliga. I also would like to thank Germany for calling him up to Euro 2000. At the time Brazil was awful and struggling in the WC Qualifying...There were several average players being called up for the national squad. I watched Germany playing and realized that it could be a lot worse.

    @sheva

I have nothing against Brazilian players

but the simple truth is, most Germans are not MATURE enough to handle them

they think that Brazilians, Dutchies, Argies and Co are automatically better and more exciting

    and certainly "unbenchable"

the fans' love (just look at blut and chrissi) automatically transfers to the BRAZILIAN making our German superstars feel like boring wallflowers

Diego is good player but completely fucked up Bremen

on the pitch as well as in the minds of the German Werder players

in many ways it's not even Diego's fault at all

    he's humble enough

Ze Roberto confined Schweinsteiger to the bench at Bayern; even when the Brazilian was having a very poor spell, he would still play

personally, I would not mind if the Bundesliga became a Dutch-Brazilian-French-Argie FREE ZONE for the next 10 years

we Germans would learn to love ourselves

and currently, we are feeling very unloved

You just need to find a good mix like Leverkusen did in 2002. Butt, Nowotny, Schneider, Ballack, Neuville and Lúcio + Zé Roberto. Forget their nationalities and play the best players.

Diego is not only a good player, he´s a brillliant player. And he did not f@ck up Bremen, what a nonsense. We could not have found a better successor for Micoud.

If Klose wouldn´t have been such a disaster in the second part of the season we would have won the Championship and the UEFA Cup and you would heap praise on Schaaf no end now.

    True story.

I don't even bother to comment on otto's anti-Diego nonsense chrissi. It's beyond ridiculous for ages now.

does anyone have some credible information on Samed Yesil's Liverpool transfer? I've heard that he has a buy back clause of the same fee Liverpool bought him for. This seems odd and it surely isn't as straightforward as this.
