    Question

word has it that Werder are interested in signing Baros

Schaaf has always been good at reviving players gone stale

    BUT

you have to wonder why somebody like Baros manages to still have CL suitors

he was hardly a massive success at Liverpool

went on to disappoint at Aston Villa

and did the same at Lyon

so why would a team like Bremen still be interested in him Question

presumably, topping the European Cup goal-scorer charts many moons ago is the reason

who are the other players, who dazzled initially and then disappointed at club after club after club but still drive on the credit a brilliant first impression gave them Question

what about Anelka, Rooney (at international level), Tomasson, Kluivert (once he had lost his way), van Bockwurst, Lauth, del Piero (even if he stayed at one club), Metzelder..... Question

    anybody else

We discussed this in the Bundesliga transfer thread already. Most Werder fans, me included, are very sceptical about this, for various reasons explained there already. chrissi seems to disagree though.

Schaaf can do wonders with players who are in a crisis, but in Baros' case, I'm very sceptical. His major problem is that he is too injury prone though, and we really have enough of those.

Baros is too much of a head-down player.

His international record reads good but we all know that international records should be treated with a pinch of salt - Poldi and Healy are evidence of this too Wink

    Question

His league record is great and his CL record is rapidly improving.

And in competitive competitions his stats read played 6, scored 3

Baros a great player but on a club level he mostly only had SHITE managers!

I fear Cassano may end up being like this. Looks like milan are still prepared to take a risk on him tho ince they remember euro 2004 and how well he did in serie A prior to that.

Baros is undoubtedly talented and very effective in the right environment (ie the Czech national team) but seems to be one of these players who has to be in the right mood. Djibril Cisse is a similar case though he's had more of an excuse with all these broken legs he's had. And Harry Kewell and Alan Smith...

Baros used to be one of the most lethal international strikers.

I fear him within the Czech team environment. Out of it he's mostly harmless.

Actually Baros did quite well at Lyon, he scored 4 goals in games, which is not too bad. I would be happy if he goes to breme, so that we get Anelka instead. Recently Lyon's new manager said that Lyon were not willing to buy another forward or to sell Baros because they have already 3 good forwards (Benzema, Baros and Fred), but Fred injured himself during the copa america and will miss 1 or 2 months.
Now that I hear all these rumors in the medias I wonder if something is happening, like selling Baros and buying a more prolific player upfront.
