    Shevchenko Empty Shevchenko

Post by Parks lives Fri Jul 13, 2007 10:28 am

Although he had a bad season last year for a player of his class, anyone think he will really improve his form this year?

Last season he was carrying an injury and didn't have much of a pre-season. He's had a long break since the end of the season and also will get a full pre-season this time round.

Who know's whether Drogba will continue the form he had last year, so Sheva may have more responbility as well.

He better perform, 30 Million asks for that so im looking for 25 goals in all competitions. Bit of a steep ask, but he's a world class striker.

I think he will improve, whether it improves as far his time at Milan is something else.

    I think he will.

I don't think he'll ever get back to the form he had at Milan 3/4 years ago but I think he could easily get 15 a season if he just gets some confideence back...

You should have known it was destined for failure. No one gives a f@ck about Chelsea - have a look at the 'Malouda signs for Chelsea' thread and you'll see Wink

No, I expect Chelsea to continue their long ball, aerial/physical approach which is conducive to destroying what's left of the Ukranian's career. While Lampard is still the main playmaker in Chelsea's side, Shevchenko will still be Cr@p. Largely because Lampard cannot pass a fucking football more than 3 yards without chipping it, which means the recipient has to take at least one extra touch before they can do anything with the ball. It's quite simple stuff - you might have thought a manager as supposedly clever as Jose would have worked this out, but oh well, there's a brand to be built...

I expect another season like this one - about as many goals in the league as John O'Shea, a couple in the CL when Chelsea actually play well and a brace or two against 3rd tier teams in the FA cup, i.e. a $h!t season. But don't blame him - if you were used to it being Kaka who created your chances and that got changed to Lampard, you'd struggle as well.

My mate does that in 5 a side. Then blames my touch when by the time you've controlled the ball someone's smashing your ankles.

Same thing happens with the national team - we knock it around with 5 yard passes in the midfield then eventually someone accidentally gives it to Lampard who twats it hopefully upfield and then stands about waiting for the forward (Crouch/Rooney, usually) to bring it under control before going to help them out.

    Fucking joke.

It's never our touch! I have this teammate who panicks after making space for himself via dribbling(he's quite good he's Ronaldo to me being Giggs) and then passes the ball to me over 5 yards with the power resembling a shot.

I always miscontrol it. I've always wondered whether a pro like Rooney could control that.

    He-he.

I used to be like that, fairly tricky, good at getting past players and woeful at shooting. It got so bad I was missing almost open goals.

Now me shooting is better, my fitness has gone down hill.

Might as well. Im $h!t at five a side. I usually just go in goal because a)im a goalie, and b) im $h!t outfield. I went outfield last monday, and wasnt acctually that bad. Bad thing for me is that im not that good at tricks, or shooting. I can only pass.

Just use my size buddy nothing else , I am easily comfortable in midfield or defence , I am a good passer, have good vision, strength etc etc, not good upfield because not such a good dribbler or finisher.

    Pretty much it. <Ale>

I don't think Mourinho is that strong tactically, he mainly sticks to what he knows. I suspect he's a great man manager, but tactically... nah.
Remember, this is the man who's idea of a plan B was to stick Huth upfront. On more than one occasion.

Rijkaard isn't the best tactically either, a good man manager to get the best out of his team and keep the egos from clashing.
I don't think Fergie is the best tactically either.

Of the prem top 4 I think Benitez is by far the best tactically, but the more I read the more I'm convinced he's not a good man manager at all contarry to the otehr three (very distant, cold and clinical to his players).

Lampard will not be the main playmaker next season though saints. Now that we are covered for CB, I fully expect Essien to be the main playmaker, and hopefully the wingers will stay fit this season, which will help Sheva.

That's roughly where I'm at. Except I can't shoot for toffee. My shooting is like Cristiano Ronaldo's is from set pieces - once in a while I'll hit it perfectly but generally it's all over the shop...
