Lennon wouldn't be EPL quality if it wasn't for his pace and speed of turn. Fact is, he has so much pace and such a good speed of turn that it makes him a really goo player.

Bently and miler don't ave the pace so they rely more o they're tehnical ablity and end product, which are both far far superior to Lennon's but statistically over the course of the season Lennon will provide more assists, as h gets the more opportunities to provide them through his pace.

    Right...I agree with that.

Which is why I said...if Lennon can improve his technical side to his game and end product this season he'll be immense.

I think he will improve which is why I have included him. Not being funny but if Lennon improves these then Bentley and Milner would have no chance of an England space IMO.

the main reason why Mancio did not like Grosso is coz he was poor defensively.... great going forward, but if you are looking for a player who makes less mistakes than Abidal at the back, you got the wrong guy...

But he does have match presence, can make that improtant difference in a close game... didn't manage to do that at Inter, but if given time, he will decide a few games on his own...

Hmm, that's not strictly true. This season he got more assists, but i put that down to him being in a good team with Berbatov/Keane/Defoe playing ahead of him. He's yet to match the season Milner had at Villa when he was the 2nd highest assister in the league.

Dunno how I forgot Pazzini... probably coz of his poor performances in U21... but he will be pushed into the deep end at Fiorentina, so the first month of the season will be defining for the career of future star Giampaolo... if he manages to fill Toni's boots, Pazzini would have arrived as a star... if he fails, it will take him a long while to get such a chance again, specially with the likes of Bojinov (or whoever replaces him) and Lupoli waiting on the bench.... one thing is for sure, one of these 3 kids will become a star, and Giampaolo will get the first chance!

bluenine wrote:Some kids who will impress and cement their place in Serie A:

Amelia (Livorno) - already a world champion, he is buffon's heir.

Bovo (Genoa) - A coupla bad seasons, I think Bovo will be reborn at Genoa where he will finally become a starter. His few performaqnces for Torino this year were encouraging.
Vanden Borre (Fiorentina) - has all the characteristic to make an immediate impact in Serie A
Chiellini (Juventus) - the azzurini captain has cemented his place for the bianconeri

Paro (Genoa) - finally proved his potential for Juve in Serie B last season... now he needs to confirm it for Genoa in A
Aquilani (Roma): Injury last season hampered his progress... this season he will forge a strong partnership with De Rossi!
Foggia (Cagliari) - Talented, did well for Reggina last season, and I think this will be his season like last season was Rosina's.
Jankovic (Palermo) - Impressed in the U21s... I can't wait to watch him play for Palermo.
Rosina (Torino) - Revelation of last season (as I predicted before) he is going to become the next Italian great.

Cavani (Palermo) - I really really rate this kid, and from what I hear, he is doing well in the U20 WC. I hope he gets playing time, will be difficult with Amauri & Miccoli in the team.
Quagliarella (Udinese) - His goals are already legendary. We need more, Quag!

Other kids to look out for:
Aquafresca (Cagliari), Giovinco (Empoli), Lavezzi (Napoli), Ribas (Livorno), Nocerino (Juventus), Gastaldello (Sampdoria), Molinaro (Juventus).

No worries, it's more like the last couple of months he didn't play very well. The thing is that at this time he was already talking about a possible transfer to Barcelona, so I think his mind was already somewhere else.

Suprised no one has put Rozehnal or Utaka.

2 of my favourite players in Ligue 1 so I'm happy they've come.

Rozehnal is ridiculously talented for a CB and Utaka is a great forward (if not a great striker) who could really shine in a more attack-minded league.

Sagna is an interesting one - whenever I saw him play I thought he was a good athlete and competitor but not all that as a footballer but the French on here disagree.

I may have been wrong but I'll wait and see.

Are there any Scottish talents that we need to keep a look out for?

Apologies for not getting back to you sooner Cesc. Hmmm, let me think.

I'd keep my eye on Whittaker and David Murphy of Hibs. They've both flourished under John Collins. Actually, they're probably the best pair of fullbacks in the SPL. Perhaps somebody with more knowledge of the SPL (Murray, Calidad, Punty, ADO Bhoy, Pierre etc) could qualify that statement?

Eh, let's see, who else? I'd keep my eye on some of the Hearts players, like Mikokaunas (sp?) and I'm looking forward to seeing how Donati and Cuellar settle in.

I'm antsy about Gretna's appearance in the SPL. They really are a miracle club, attaining successive promotions through the Scottish leagues, Scottish Cup finalists, and UEFA cup participants.

I'm going to cheer them on this season, I think. May even take a trip down to see them!

    Come on Gretna!

Oooh, just noticed they're playing at fir park, Motherwell's stadium which is only about 45 mins from my house. I'm going Very Happy

    Cheers

There's very little to get excited about in the SPL IMO.

As I said earlier, Scott Brown is head and shoulders above everyone else, and along with Gordon I believe he can/will be genwinely world class. I'd be disappointed if he isn't catching the eye of Europes top clubs within a season or two. He would have been better moving to the EPL instead of Celtic, but hopefully he will impress enough in the CL & in internationals to get a move.

Other than that, Whittaker (like you say), Naismith and perhaps Bjarnason. Possibly Benjelloun of Hibs, who is skillful and two footed.

Also, I still have hope for Burke who performed well in the CL a couple of years back, and was praised by both Pellegrini & Mancini. Don't know much about Donati or Cuellar to have an opinion on them.

I rarely watch the SPL myself to be honest, so am not entirely clued up either, but other than those mentioned I don't think they'll be any standouts really.

Faubert is more of a right winger though - its inevitable that a right winger will appear a better player than a right back, especially when you're judging a player on technical ability.

If we were playing Sagna as a right winger I'd be worried

Thanks Cali, I knew I missed a couple: Bjarnasson and Benjelloun.

The problem with Burke is that, aside from having a weird haircut, he gets injured when the wind blows against him. The frequency of his injuries isn't a coincidence. I think he must be harbouring a chronic injury.

Donati is horribly average from what I've seen of him - so he'll probably be the SPL's best player this season Wink
