If Madrid would have made a serious offer, including Drenthe staying at Feyenoord for 1 more season (which would make sense Royston isn't a Real starter yet), this would have been a done deal.

Remains to be seen what will happen, Calderon said he's confident; we're working on the deal, but it's in the early stages.

Would be a good idea to Loan back Drenthe, as we would have Robben, Reyes and Robinho.

    (If we sign the two)
The loan back is a pre-condition by Feyenoord. But since we're nice people in Rotterdam, we might be kind and drop it if you offer 50M+

I'm curious though, what's the point of selling Drenthe while forcing the club to loan him back for one year? Why not just sell him in a year and let his price go up even more? He may even get a few games with Oranje by then.

It will be his second year syndrome. The people are expecting that he will play like he did with the U-21 team. He wont fulfill the promise and the price will go down.

Sell it while its hot <Ale>

What's Drenthe's best position anyway? I've heard LMF, LW, DM, LB.

He didn't even have a particularly great season with Feyenoord anyway. But then again, Feyenoord has made some very good signings this season so it could easily go the other way. The guy could become the hottest prospect in Holland after this season.

I'd say it's LWB or LW.
