THE NEAR FUTURE Empty THE NEAR FUTURE

Post by Puro Sat Aug 04, 2007 10:40 pm

Do you see your country winning the WC soon? I don't know whether we are gonna win it or not, BUT with all the talent we have, we'll give it a good go. If only we can get rid of the current football directors, it would be a lot easier to achieve this goal. At any rate, the future looks very bright!

    1. Raimond Manco, 16 years old, FW, Alianza Lima.
    2. Jair Baylón, 18 years old, FW, Sporting Braga (POR)
    3. Carlos Zambrano, 18 , CB, Schalke 04 (GER)
    4. Joazinho Arroe, 14, CAM, Atalanta (ITA)
    5. Pierre Larrauri, 13, CAM, Bayern (GER)
    6. Augusto Elías, 12, FW, Grande Bentin
    7. Damian Ismodes, 18, CAM, Sporting Cristal
    8. Quintanilla, 16, OH, Danubio [URU]
    9. Gary Correa, 17, OH, Universitario
    10. La Torre, 16, FW, Sport Boys
    11. Ballón, 19, DM, San Martín
    12. Hermoza, 16, GK, Alianza Lima
    13. Coavoy, 17, DH, Deportivo Real
    14. Duarte, 17, CB, Alianza Lima
    15. Diego Pizarro 17, CAM, Bayern (GER)
    16. Vázquez 18, CAM, IFK (SWE)

Not with Van Basten. We need to get one of Co, Van Gaal or Hiddink leading us, but the KNVB (dutch FA) want an Ajax boy or someone who isn't too opiniated (Advocaat).

And we need at least one more great defender IMO, just for balance and security - and break the recent tradition of bringing Ajax deadwood along.

With the quality of squad we have we don't even need a great manager, we just need a good one. Van Basten is the fucking pits though.

Speaking of Dutch coaches...why didn't Rijkaard continue coaching the "Oranje"? I remember Holland in Euro 2000, and I liked that team a lot. Rijkaard should've continued. Did he quit coaching the national team so he could go to Barcelona? I don't remember the reasons why he left the national team. <Ale>

I didn't want him to leave because he was one of the best coaches we had (result-wise), while his teams played the some of the sexiest football too. He picked the best teams and players too, so what more can you want.

He quit because he said prior to taking the job that winning the EC00 was the only goal. He didn't, so he resigned. More to do with keeping his word than anything else I suppose. Was equally gutted he quit than as we were KOd in such an inept way (completely player's fault, Rijkaard was not to blame for them missing penalties).

You were very unlucky not to win that Euro 2000, but that's football.

If Larrauri or Arroe can boss a midfield in the near future like this guy, then we may be back among the top 8 in the world with a great shot for more. Platini was Cueto's bitch in Parc des Princes. I remember this game clearly.

    Not completely true...

The players failed him more than 100% that's true, but his substitutions in that match were worse than Advocaat's in the match against the Czechs or Pekerman's against Germany....

No, not here. Elías has been tested against some of the best players. He's another "prodigy" if you will much like Pier. These two have gone up against the very best that Alianza Lima, Sporting Cristal, Universitario, Cantolao, threw at them. And they beat them all in youth competitions.

Did that kid Davis win everything in youth tournaments? <Ale>

I'd really love to see Peru winning it, even more than Brazil. But it's impossible in the near future.

Nothing is impossible todo. If there's a will there's a way. Yes, the road is hard, the competition (Brasil, Argentina, Italia, France, Germany...) is very strong, BUT we have the raw materials in place.

The hardest part is stopping a few Peruvians (football directors) tripping the rest of the country. The football directors (the last 25 years) are just there to make a buck (actually millions), and it's the same group of guys playing revolving door.

Yes, México has a very bright future indeed. They have the economic means, a very strong league, large population, the fans, the stadia...México has everything to challenge for the WC. Only problem is all bets are off IF they face the USA in the WC. Biggrin <Ale>

Peru should consider qualifying for the World Cup first. I think you'll find that the qualifiers have the best chances of winning it Wink
