That doesn't really mean much...all deals are done with installments. Rarely do clubs pay the entire amount up front. For example, our Henry deal is 2 payments of 12 million each, one paid in 2008 (so we pay nothing this year) and one in 2009.

Normally we pay "X" Amount upfront which is usually big, with add ons + installements.

I thought the only reason we went for this deal was for the payment to be one lump sum.

Drenthe vliegt zo snel mogelijk naar de Spaanse hoofdstad om de laatste details te bespreken. De Rotterdammer tekent er zeer waarschijnlijk een vijfjarige verbintenis. Daarmee komt een eind aan de meest opzienbarende transferzaak deze zomer waarbij een Nederlandse speler is betrokken.
Vijf weken geleden meldde Real zich voor het eerst bij Feyenoord, kort daarna gevolgd door Chelsea. Drenthe liet zich toen ontvallen het liefst bij Feyenoord te willen blijven. Niet lang daarna zette de jeugdinternational zaakwaarnemer André Wasiman aan de kant en ging hij in zee met de meer ervaren Sigi Lens.
Ruim anderhalve week geleden liepen de onderhandelingen tussen De Koninklijke en Feyenoord vast, hoewel de Madrileense club op dat moment 12,5 miljoen euro zou hebben geboden. Op advies van Lens stapte Drenthe vervolgens naar de arbitragecommissie.
