Schalke get about 150.000 fans to attend theirs

but hey, who cares about English fans when you want to become the BIGGEST BRAND IN WORD FOOTBALL by 2012

I don't know what day Schalke have theirs on, however:

1) It was on a work day.
2) A lot of the players weren't there due to injury.

And I'm sorry for ruining your moment here otto, but

3) Only one stand was open.

otto - don't be naive - being the biggest brand in world football has nothing to do with fans in the stadium and everything to do with shirt sales in China.

Which is why Schalke will never be as successful as clubs in Spain, Italy, and England.

what I am trying to say is

a) what do Chelsea know that the rest of the world will soon learn

b) why should a Chinese fan show passion for a team that cannot even stir the locals with long-standing ties of loyalty

c) which numpty would set the date for an Open Day during the Week, and could he possibly also be in charge of the Global Branding Strategy

the Chinese may be hungry

In the 21st century no-one tries to walk any more - you launch globally via the internet, grab as much cash as quickly as possible, and then leg it when things get tough.

For heaven's sake, the daughter of the 40th and 42nd presidents of the US is named after Chelsea FC - you can't get more global brand awareness than that!

But we only offered Robben 90k I think this is partly why he wants to leave.

Sheva was an ERROR. But Ballack was free transfer so that actually makes some sense.

6000 is indeed a disgrace if that is true....If im going naked in the Feyenoord stadium, I will be able to attract more people.

Maybe the management of English clubs isn't into doing things for their fans that do not generate a profit.

Lots of english fans would love a free open day. (the ones I took to/ explained about Feyenoord's open day all loved it)

BTW Schalke's matches are always sold out.

The 'open day' is another thing Schalke copied from Feyenoord (same goes for the tune they play when they've scored). Anyway better steal something proper than come up with something Cr@p yourself.

the truth is

English clubs treat they fans as $h!t

or rather merely as sources of income

I will never understand though why English fans put up with it

when HSV was losing the plot, the fans took over an official annual club meeting, ordered more sausages and commanded the press to leave the room immediately
