Lots of cards yet it wasn't a tough or dirty match. That usually means the ref is Cr@p.
Terrific game though.

A fair result, I guess. And hey, Schalke didn't win, we got to see an exciting game, there were goals... And Stuttgart's new signings (apart from maybe Ewerthon) have hinted that they might not have been a waste of money.

Great game and an excellent match to start the season with. Stuttgart were probably the better side and played some good football, although Schalke created some good chances away from home so probably merited their point.

This match was good promotion for the Bundesliga, it seems like Frank, Sheffield gunner and the (great) Dutch contigent enjoyed it also, if I interpret the positive comments correctly that is.
Watch more Bundesliga folks, it's worth it. I expect this season to be even more tense than the last, because I expect 6 teams fighting for the top spot this time, HSV and Leverkusen (and probably even Dortmund) having a say this time also, compared to the 4 teams of last season.

Definitely. As I've said before, I intend to follow the Bundesliga this season now that I'm at home and have the internet. They're showing the games live on Setanta as well so some people may be able to catch it on there now.
Btw, well done Rai who got the right score on the predictions game.

Great stuff.
Really looking forward to your very balanced comments in the Bundesliga matchday threads. Always good to have a different perspective.

Very good game, both teams were better then I expected, especially Stuttgart, considering their preparation for the new season was difficult.
Oh well, might be a very tough season for Werder Bremen...

First of all...
WELCOME BACK CHRISSI!
This said, I agree with you. I expect a tough start for us at least, as written repeatedly now. I just hope that we don't bottle the CL qualification.

I´m really unhappy with our situation, everything is going wrong atm, I don´t want us to become the HSV of the season 2006/07. $h!t, we can´t allow us to bottle the CL, not this year, not next year, never in the next 10 years at least.

Because I'm not even registered there!
I'm not the greatest fan of club forums, although I have to admit that we have quite a few open minded guys in ours, balancing out the zealots and sheep.
I'm not really happy with my club these days either unfortunately. If we only would sign the player in your avatar, he'd be the last piece to the puzzle, he'd make the difference, our transfer policy (in the attack especially) would make sense in retrospect...

We have injuries, injuries, injuries. And if they´re not injured they´re out of form or want to leave...and when we sign a player as replacement, then he`s injured immediately as well.blutgraetsche wrote:I'm not really happy with my club these days either unfortunately. Did you notice that Schaaf is pretty unhappy with Carlos Alberto...seems we have to wait much longer than expected until he can help us.
I have the feeling that not even Nilmar could help us much atm.
Let´s hope for a little wonder tomorrow, and that Jensen has a half decent match...

Oh dear, you sound even more pessimistic than me. Injuries are the worst thing, no doubt, but I haven't lost all hope yet. With signing a creative striker to link attack and midfield better, I still think that we'd have good chance in the championship, after the team has geled that is.
This brings me to Carlos Alberto: He will need time to adopt to the league, which is very different to the Brazilian league. Everyone should be patient with him, it's not an easy situation for him either. In the long run, I definitely expect him to show his class for us, and make the difference in a lot of important matches.
Yeah, hope is what is left. Let us hope for better times.

deutsche Miesepeter
what else is new
although, admittedly, I am surprised that blut is trying to cheer chrissi up
very unlike him and his DOOM-Scenarios
what's the problem with Alberto then: trouble-maker, or maybe just not good enough
hey, I have an idea
why don't you two just join ME in the Bayern corner
we are having a hell of a party

chrissi,
don't you think it's time for a GERMAN avatar soon
what about Frings, or Allofs, or Schaaf, or Boro
some people could interpret this as a lack of loyalty to the German cause

Wiese is probably our only German player who has perfomed consistently so far this year. Since I love him for slagging off Bayern every once in a while also, I'd probably choose him.
But we are Germans, and Germans are not focused on individuals so much, the team is important.
