No Nani, don't know how shocked we should be about this. He's moved to a big club, but the others seem to be on better form. I suspect we'll be seeing Nani back in no time however.

Good to see Quaresma's still around, I don't think Scolari can leave him out anymore.

How come nani isnt in the squad, in England you usually get called up the national team when you join a big club (not saying Sporting are a small club) not dropped.

It is my favorite but then again i am biased. Quaresma is more a one man show type, capable of doing crazy stuff and is fantastic to watch but at the same time is more emotional.
Ronaldo is more experience and with a stronger will, after seeing him "fighting" against the away attendances the whole year in the EPL i can not help to say he is the stronger player i've ever saw. He has gone places in my consideration. He has that "arrogance" that takes to be a world class player.
Simão is more an experience player but with less fantasy, on the other hand he can play in several positions.
Nani is still very young, well appart from Simão they all are, and has a long way to improve still IMO.

I think mentality is what seperates Ronaldo from Quaresma. Ronaldo has the arrogance and belief in his abilty, that means he could play anywere and succeed. Quaresma doesnt have this and thats why Ronaldo plays for the champions of England and Quaresma plays for the champions of Portugal (no offence Protheus)

Quaresma is one of my favourite players in the world, but he isnt better than Ronaldo. When Quaresma puts in a MOTM performance in both a European championship and World Cup semi final, and is the star player for the best team in a top league; scoring 23 goals and getting 21 assists, then you can make that claim.

Anyway lets not waste time comparing them, and just enjoy their magical football.

Quaresma is genius. I think it's naive to say that he doesn't have confidence or a belief in his ability. If Quaresma didn't have this belief, he wouldn't have the audacity to try half the things that he does. I'm unsure to who is a better player. When they were both at Sporting however, Quaresma was considered the bigger talent, but obviously he is a couple of years older.

Good to see Veloso in the sqaud. I was very impressed with him during the U21's. Probably your best peformer.

I guess it came out wrong, as Quaresma obviously has confidence to do the audacious things that he does. For example when Reyes joined Arsenal many thought he was just as talented if not more than Ronaldo, but he didnt have the mentality needed to succeed at the top.

Quaresma joined barcelona and then was sold off, he didnt play for Portugal until last year, despite being arguably more talented than Ronaldo. Ronaldo joined united to replace Beckham and was determined from day one to eclipse Beckham. He has also been one of Portugals star players since 2004.

Perhaps. From what I can tell it was his attitude that let him down the most. He was very cocky, and had a poor work ethos - wouldn't track back, was incredibly lazy etc. At Barca much like Riquelme, I don't think he was signed with the managers blessing and was therefore marginalised very quickly. Him and Rijkaard did not get on.

About the mentality you are right but from that to say Quaresma is "just" a good player and only Ronaldo can be/is world class that is a big step.

He is a world class player IMO that is not as mentaly strong as Cristiano but do not forget they play in different media hyped leagues(sounded wierd hehe) and with obvious different strenghts.

Like you said when comparing clubs, of course the level of the league and level of play is much higher in EPL but considering the clubs individualy i do not see english clubs as out of reach (i am sure EPL fans disagree but that is my opinion).
Porto is a big club, the problem is that we are not even half...one fifth ...hell, we are a lot less richer so we can´t keep our best players for long. But we give good performances in europe and we have one of the best records in the EC/CL much better than the so called big clubs around europe.

But returning to the topic when i say Cristiano is world class and can make tons of tricks the way he does at the same time i think Quaresma tricks are more natural/"instinctive", he is a player that can make up stuff one doesn´t expect. In that he reminds me of Madjer from our first EC winners eleven.

All in all i think both are great players and IMO should play both on our national side.
BTW Quaresma is only recently in the national side not because of his quality but because of our stupid manager who thinks he is smarter than anyone else and when it was obvious to all he should be there he was saying he should prove he deserve to be there.

When he joined Barça he was not prepared, he wasn´t in the first team and Barça was in a low profile so there was no patience to wait for him to perform.

But hey, i don´t mind he stays at Porto, in fact i am delighted

I am very disappointed that Ricky isnt starting, I was planning on watching the game, when I finished work, just to see him play.

Armenia are playing the game of their lives, if they played like that against all i doubt they would be so low in the FIFA rankings

The difference between ronaldo and quaresma is fergueson. quaresma delivered somewhat the same as ronaldo in his first year but rijkaard never truly belived in him.im quite sure that quaresma would have been where ronaldo is now and ronaldo would have been back in portugal if he had been under rijkaard.

Never understood why UEFA is so demanding to the countries with good facilities and let poor unfit venues to be used by poor countries. Not even our 3rd division clubs have a field so bad
