Do you think Maradonny de Groot is ready for the next step?? I mean he is a bit of a combination of Eto'o and Henry!!

You should have signed him instead of Henry!!

But then again, de Graafschap wouldnt have their striker anymore!!

We are telling him not to score more than is necessary to get a result in order not to bring too much attention to him. Against Ajax he did enough to get the 3 points if it hadn't been for our defence. Against Utrecht the same story.

I know at 28 he must have dreams of playing for a big club like Barcelona or Feyenoord, but first he must keep us in the Eredivisie after which we may propose a swap with Bojan, a promising youngster who doesn't get much first team football at his club yet, or with Makaay, a player who grew up not too far from us.

    2006/2007 Dutch Eredivisie awards:

Most talented youngster (all top managers in jury were unanimous): Ibrahim Afelley (PSV).

    Best ref: Kevin Blom

    Lifetime carreer award: Guus Hiddink

    Top goal scorer trophee:
    Afonso Alves (SC Heerenveen)*

    Best player:
    1. golden shoe - Afonso Alves (SC Heerenveen)*
    2. silver shoe - Cocu (PSV)
    3. bronze shoe - Alex (PSV)

    * Afonso Alves did not show up for the award, due to 'personal problems' (probably not getting a transfer to a big club this transfer window). He hasn't played a match for his club this season. Despite the 'problems' he'll join the Brazilian squad this week. Most likely Afonso Alves will leave Heerenveen in the January transfer window.

Do you have any idea how stubborn those Frisians are ?

If I were Alves I'd make myself ready for a long and *cold* winter Laugh

Yep, VERY (stubborn), but they also have a lot of common sense.

Would have suggested that myself if I'd wanted that Wink

I'm sure the Frisians won't give in much, but as we don't know what's exactly going on there it'll be impossible to judge...

1 thing is for sure Afonso Alves wants to go. Having an uncommited player in your team, even is he's very good, will not be good in the long run. Think they'll choose plovereggs for their money... & cash in on him.
