Fair enough.
It still makes me laugh that Inzaghi is that high up. As a footballer he is fairly limited--but as a goalscorer...

Him and RVN are the same. Goal machines , they have their critics but they keep coming back .. the same could be said for Raul.

Re: 18th/19th September CL discussion
Just got back from the game. Very unhappy with the team. Only Malouda and Sheva can hold their heads high tonight. 35 shots, 1 goal
I thought the officials were poor. That free kick for the Rosenborg goal was an absolute disgrace. I mean it, a fucking poor decision by a very "fragile" ref.
As for the crowd, I hope everybody knows that 10,000 seats (the entire Shed End) was reserved for Rosenborg fans. The fact they only brought 2,000 doesn't make it our fault (although we still only sold 23,000 out of 31,000 which isn't good).
Ratings:
Cech 6 - Did he have a save to make?
Belletti 5 - A couple of good runs but largely ineffective.
Alex 5 - Looked shaky.
Terry 6 - Unconvincing.
A Cole 5 - Offered nothing in attack.
Makelele 5 - Time to take him out the first team.
Essien 6 - Lively but wasteful.
J Cole 5 - Was he even playing?
Malouda 9 - Energetic, played his socks off. Great ball into Sheva and and always looked for space. Should've scored.
Kalou 6 - Unlucky with his effort that hit the post, but did little else.
Shevchenko 8 - Looked much more at home tonight. Good header, some very good runs, looked to lay people off. Should've shot more but deserves a lot of credit tonight.

In all European Club football competition.
Raul has around 57 Champions League goals and that is the highest.
1. Raul - 57
2. RVN - 50
3. Sheva - 47

Well done Ruud for 50 CL goals - at least 2 of them have been important too !
Sheva 60 in Europe !
Sheva must have nearly as many in KO stages of CL as Raul, Ruud and Henry put together - who cares if Ruud scores 3 v Helsinki and 4 v Sparta Prague in group phases ?
Cruyff is right not to give him any credit, he's $h!t.

So... contrary to my erstwhile plans, I did end up watching the Werder game (and caught some of the Liverpool match from the corner of my eye)--not a bad game, though it became painfully apparent in the second half that you Bremers lack a decent Klose-heir. Though overall, I was pretty impressed with Werder's performance, so well done.

Babel was shite! I don't know what Coater is talking about there. Kuyt was very goof though. The only Liverpool player that really shone. He was EASILY Liverpool's best player. Babel was one of the worst

What I'm trying to say, although admittedly not very clearly, is that Berbatov is perhaps the classier player and has pedigree for having a high scoring season BUT Adebayor is more of a threat in the EPL, when on form at least. Adebayor when he isn't on form is a very frustrating player.
Berbatov is the better finisher, has better technique and has a better touch. Adebayor has more pace, works harder and hassles defenders more.
The >>> comparison was merely me being a WUM because TS was taking the piss out of Kuyt.
In all honesty, I don't know who I think is the best out of the three. Adebayor is in form whilst Berbatov is out of it present. Kuyt always seems to be in form, but at his most dangerous, he isn't as good as Adebayor or berbatov at their most dangerous

Lucarelli's goal was good tonight. A fine diving header into the far corner. Shakhtar also had a goal wrongly ruled out for offside.

After your admirable rants about how P0-0L are now the bastion of beautiful attacking football, I was expecting to watch a masterclass in expansive football. However only one team played football tonight and it wasnt p0-0L.
Although I will give you some credit for your beautiful goal, I never get bored of watching a punt into the box, a header by a big man into the 6 yard area, then another header by an ugly man into the goal. In that one move P0-0L showed the world what the CL is about.
united bored the pants off us in nearly every away game in europe last year rez yet you still claim they played the best football in europe. who could forget the benfica, lille, celtic, copenhagen masterclasses
it was a tough game.. we got a good result while playing $h!t.. something M0-0Un0-0ed have being doing all season
COTR even you have to admit that it's quite funny that after spending hours portraying your club as a team who plays good football and owns the CL, you go and play horrible negative football, getting completely played off the park at the same time.
Last season we played the best football in England and in the CL we played great football against good teams who actually played football (we were involved in the two most exciting CL games of last season). Away from home against some of the rubbish teams, for some reason we were dragged into their dour style and were involved in some horrible matches.
In all honesty considering the circumstances 1 point is a very good result and now you should easily finish top of the group.
Ps Babel, Torres and Gerrard were absolutely dreadful.

Re: 18th/19th September CL discussion
Who the f@ck told Gerrard he's a central midfielder?
Rafa had seen enough after 12 MINUTES, he called Mascherano and told him to play in front of Gerrard. Benítez rendered the "inspirational captain" useless as central midfielder so he instructed Mascherano to provide the assists to his strikers.
Gerrard's not a bad player, but his body language spoke volumes. He was just ball watching them Porto midfielders running circles around him. It was if he knew he is not what the media made him out to be. It's not his fault though. Second half coming up, does it get worse for Liverpool?

It´s the same over here in Germany. Everyone is already counting the days until he moves to Real Madrid.Sheffield gunner wrote:Blut and Chrissi would be going nuts if they listened to the Sky commentary. Whenever Diego gets the ball they keep talking about how if he impresses he might catch the eye of Real Madrid, and could earn a 'dream move.' He is playing really well though.
You might be surprised to hear though that the great majority of Bremen fans are pretty relaxed with regard to Diego. We knew from the day he came to Bremen that he probably wouldn´t stay for long, and we don´t have a problem with him going to Real. After all it´s the world´s most famous football club, he could finally play together with Robinho again and Real would surely pay a decent sum for him, something around 35m+.
Apart from that I´m sure he would never act like Klose the characterless arsehole or van der verrat when he wants to leave. Diego is a very nice fellow with a good character.
Of course we hope he will stay here and extend his contract.

True, very true. However, Mascherano has NEVER play the role of assisting the forwards. Rafa's expression at the end said it all, completely disgusted with Gerrard's performance, he was looking in his direction.
The positives about Liverpool is that they played very well with 10 men. Mascherano was forced to move back to his DM role, and he was his usual.
Liverpool scored their goal out of NOTHING. One dead ball and they scored. I can't believe Porto are that good. Porto made Liverpool look like Derby County out there. Unbelievable!
If Quaresma's game had a little less fantasy, and if he could just be just a little more straightforward in his approach, he'd be a monster.
