BETTER LATE THAN NEVER
This dude Scott Murray is SPOT ON with his football observation. It only took him 2 years to come to his senses. It's better late than never I guess. Good for him!

It looks like the vast majority of Scousers are in agreement with Scott Murray. You'll find a few Scousers probably with the same football brain as Gerrard disagreeing with Murray, but the VAST MAJORITY want "inspirational captain" out of Rafa's central midfield NOW!

I am pleasantly surprised to find out that SO MANY Liverpool fans share the same views as your namesake. You'll see just a few who STILL believe Gerrard is a "world class central midfielder".

Yo puro, what's this all about? I've been told time and again that Gerrard is the best CM in the world. When someone claimed he was 1 of the best 3 CM's in the world and I tried to say that there are 3 better CMs at Liverpool alone the reaction I got was unbelievable from the Gerrard faithful.

That's because you probably included Sissoko in that list.

Maybe I went a bit too far with Sissoko, but certainly Masch and Alonso. Plus out of the "big 4" alone you have Essien and Mikel from Chelsea, Fabregas from Arsenal, Scholes and Hargreaves from Man Utd who are generally accepted as being better CMs than Gerrard. There's also some debatable calls (e.g. Ballack & Carrick), as well as other central midfielders from EPL, European and worldwide clubs, who at this moment in time are better CMs than Gerrard.

Not really, because this article is balanced and makes the observations that we all know- Gerrard has wonderful attributes as a player, World Class ones. But one of those is not week-in-week out tactical discipline and decision making.
If it were written by Puro, it would have many more YO's in, plenty of references to THICK SHITES, and a lot of and end with a , headlines in CAPITALS all for maximum effect.
Good article there by Murray. How Puro can somehow take credit for any of it is beyond me. Puro: Never have you ever said anything as vaguely balanced or constructive on the subject of Steven Gerrard

obviuously this guy is a complete FUCKO, who has conveniently forgotten that gerrard was playing in central midfield at the beginning of the season when liverpool were playing very well, and alongside alonso owned for example the midfield of mikel, essien and lampard
but why let facts get in the way
anyway the guy has an agenda he wrote this article a year ago so has been against gerrard in the centre for a while:

Re: BETTER LATE THAN NEVER
I'm personally excited by the proposition that Torres isn't going to dive anymore because he feels Gerrard is against this type of play-acting...this may mean the big man himself will be refraining from throwing himself to the ground when he's in/near the penalty box...

Not anti-Peruvian though, seeing as none of their players made the list

Re: BETTER LATE THAN NEVER
Thank you Ten Percent for posting Scott Murray's blog from way back. My mistake, Murray was onto Gerrard's uninspiring central midfield play since that game against Milan in Istanbul much like most serious football fans.
Do you think Gerrard wrote down the condition to play central midfield when signing his contract extension with Liverpool? I'd be pissed off if I were a Liverpool fan!
His selfish ass is costing the team big time. We all can see that IT IS Xabi Alonso's team. Xabi's the quarterback in that Liverpool central midfield. He's the real deal. I've always known that since Xabi's first game for Liverpool.

How about the way Murray describes Lampard's midfield performances?
and Gerrard's?
Murray goes overboard in some cases, focusing on the negatives too much at times, BUT, OVERALL, he's spot on.

Yeah, like costing them the FA cup and other numerous silverware that they've won with him in midfield.
I get the point you are making about his lack of discipline tactically, but 110 makes a valid point- he was playing there during the early games of the season when the team was playing well too. There is sme truth that Murray says. However it is nothing like the points you have been peddling for years, firstly because your "incite" into these matters always descends into shameless American self congratulation ("I've always known it....Im clever, you guys are thick- etc etc). Makes you sound like a tosser to be honest

needless to say most of this article is a load of tosh
It's an instructive comparison. Gerrard's appearance in the centre of Liverpool's midfield has had an undeniably unbalancing effect.
this sentence in particular
the team has not been unbalanced because of gerrard... in fact he has been keeping the shape well in the centre. it's the wide areas we are once again struggling in
I can't be arsed going into another gerrard debate but I would like to know why the author decided to leave out the villa and chelsea games from his analysis. you would think two of our hardest games this season may just be a vital bit of information for an article like this but the author clearly had other ideas

He didn't write the article at the beginning of the season to say that gerrard can't play in central midfield, because he was doing pretty damn well at it. But Gerrard plays badly in a couple of games and suddenly he's got an article out, means that he was just waiting for gerrard to have a dip in form so he could publish that. If that's not having an agenda I don't know what is.
