Muamba I think originates from Congo but has played for England at youth levels in the past.
Not one player has come through at Liverpool, Man Utd or Chelsea.
Wow, so it seems Southampton have taken over from West Ham and are providing the best academy graduates in this generation.

This kid is special, and he is outshining his more illustrious colleagues like Rossi & Pozzi. I haven't been this excited about a young Italian striker since Bobo Vieri over 10 years ago!!!
Future Nerazzurro!! I hope we get him back when Cruz retires.bluenine wrote:53 MINUTES: Italy 1-0 Croatia

bluenine wrote:Giovinco and Rossi also had good game... this azzurini is a very 90's style Italian formation, with a playmaker (Giovinco in a Donadoni impression), a fantasista (Rossi imitating Baggio), and a finisher (Acquafresca in a Vialli/Vieri role).
It will be good to see how they do in 2009.bluenine wrote:Acquafresca scored again!!! Italy win 2-0.

Acquafresca appears to be doing really well and living up to your hype, although it wouldnt surprise me if Rossi was making him look better than he actually is
What do you think are the chances of Rossi - if he carries on his good form - getting into the Euro 2008 squad if Italy qualify.

I think if Rossi keeps knocking them in for Villareal, there is a chance he would make it to Donadoni's squad. Speciually coz the role of the fantasista is up for grabs. But you must understand that even if Rossi continues his good form, there is a chance he will be left behind - Italian coaches rarely pick someone so young.
Acquafresca will need at least 3 years of good performance and development to make the azzurri. There is just too much competition for the strikers role for them to give a kid a chance. And i think that is the right thing to do, let him become a star in Serie A first.Rez wrote:

Rez wrote:I have seen Acquafresca play before (for the U21), I didnt recognise the name, but remembered the face. He does look like a good player, he has a good eye for goal. The big problem for him is that Inter have more (good) strikers than any other club in the world, so like Rossi he may have to leave to progress his career.
Rossi scores a lot of goals, but he isnt a traditional forward, as he has so much more to his game. I remember when I first watched him play I was surprised by how good his passing, vision, dribbling and technique was. The Roberto Baggio comparision (in terms of playing style) is quite appropriate as Rossi is a playmaker/forward who scores and creates goals for others.
Yeah I remember you saying before that Italy very rarely pick young players. However I think it could be because young players dont usually play in the first team for their clubs in Italy. Rossi is an exception to all the other Italian youngsters in that he has played for 4 clubs in 3 different lcountries and is currently one of the star players in a top team, so he has very good experience for his age.
I think he deserves at least a sub appearence in a freindly for Italy as he has scored 14 league goals this (calender) year. I think given the opportunity he would do well for you guys. I think his biggest obstacle is his height but even then I still believe he has the potential to be the new icon of Italian football
