next manager to go? Empty next manager to go?

Post by debaser Mon Nov 05, 2007 8:32 pm

the favourites from the start of the season are both gone by early november (lee and hutchings). jol and mourinho too have exited early.

    who next?

maybe the better question is who will last out the season?

methinks southgate and sanchez are next in line for some pressure if they don't do well in the next few games. bruce is believed to be on his way if the Jeung takeover occurs. i don't know about billy davies, maybe given a season's grace, having got them promoted.

outside bets: alladyce? benitez if they exit champions league and drift further away from the premiership title?

looking at fulham's fixtures, i think sanchez will be gone by xmas, got some tricky games and they've had a bad start as it is. boro have nicer fixutres, but they haven't won since the 1st of sept, if they don't win one of their next 3 [bolton (a), villa (h), reading (a)], i'd say southgate will be on his way too.

    opinions?

I don't like the way the prem is getting like seria a, with a new manager every week.
I'll go for sanchez or megson. Fulham look shite despite spending a load of cash. and megson's style is worse than Allardyce's style, i doubt the fans will be to keen to watch the team, a few bad results and he's gone <Ale>

yeah, megson seems already at risk because the fans have been so against his appointment. however, 2 decent draws to start with is a reasonable base to build on. crucial for him to get a couple of wins to get the fans on board

i wouldn't mind that sig if it wasn't so f...ing big, but how can i come on here in work time if i may see that?

    Anyway bag on topic

    Megson
    Sanchez

    McClaren

Southgate - less sure of, Gibson has a history of backing managers

Davies - is a poss. whilst somebody in his position may get the benefit of the doubt for a season, eg Boothroyd, Davies does not seem to have such a strong relationship with the board.

Allardyce shouldn't be sacked because Newcastle are actually doing alright and showing some promise, despite still having defensive/keeper problems. It'd help if he picked players in their correct positions, and got rid of Smith.

Sanchez has spent a crapload and got nowhere. Fulham don't look any better than last season. If anything, they look worse. Poor appointment, Al Fayed was obviously more worried about Diana and Dodi than Fulham FC. Should be out of there by Christmas.

Davies - if Derby were expecting anything higher than 19th this season then they're crazy. Davies ain't a great manager, but Derby won't get anyone better.

Southgate - young manager, Chairman has a lot of loyalty. Should be fine as long as they pick up a win soon.

Benitez - who knows what the owners are like, but I'd be surprised if he was sacked. Still, Liverpool have been struggling since Paco left.

How about Steve Bruce? The new Chinese guy at helm obviously doesn't rate him. So far the results have been OK. But then maybe the Chinese guy is looking for first available excuse to wield the axe. So 4-5 defeats in a row and Bruce might be looking for a new job.

Dunno how loyal the fans are to Bruce, he took them up, then back down, then back up again. He's clearly a decent if unspectacular manager. The new chairman would have to line up a significantly better manager as a replacement or he could f@ck up his relationship with the fans from the off.
