Inspired by Puro's post in another thread...which would be, in your opinion, the best possible set of matches. Include your reason/storylines.

Chelsea, Inter, Milan,
Liverpool, Arsenal, Olympiakos,
Porto-Roma
Two strong teams, both play good football
Lyon-Sevilla
Again, can beat anyone on their day...
(in truth, I'd swap around any of the 4 teams in the two matches above and it would still make for compelling viewing because of the style of all these 4 teams)
Madrid-Schalke
Madrid are $h!t in Germany
Barcelona-Celtic
Easiest one please
Liverpool-Inter
An interesting clash of styles and a true test of Mancini's Inter
Milan-Arsenal
Old vs. young
Chelsea-Fenerbahce
Chelsea (and MU below) get lucky in my draw, but can Grant's team handle the away leg?
Man. Utd.-Olympiakos
Easy for MU on paper but I'm not so sure they'll cope with the away atmosphere...switched this with Fener because of the 6-2 from 2-3 years ago

CL looks really weak on paper this year..and that for the second round!
Oh well, next year the usual suspects Bayern, Feyenoord and Juventus will be back again.

Hopefully Feyenoord will be there, everyone is bored with PSV now, and they are such a boring team

Inter-Arsenal (Just for them Inter and Arsenal fans to settle it)
Real Madrid-Liverpool (I don't think we've had this in CL recently)
Milan-Fenerbahce (I don't know why)
Barcelona-Olympiakos (never played)
Sevilla-Schalke (hopefully a repeat of their memorable UEFA Cup tie, the "REAL" UEFA Cup Final of that year)
Chelsea-Lyon (attractive tie)
Porto-Roma (never seen it)
Manchester Utd-Celtic (Nice!)

Torres praying for Real reunion
Fernando Torres admits he is desperate for Liverpool to draw his old adversaries Real Madrid in the knockout stages of the Champions League.
The Spanish striker helped the Reds into the last 16 by scoring in Tuesday night's 4-0 win over Marseille - and the former Atletico Madrid player now wants a go at Bernd Schuster's side.
Liverpool will play one of Real, Barcelona, Sevilla, AC Milan or Inter Milan in the last 16.
Torres told the Reds' official website: "I hope that we draw Real Madrid, that would be a great tie. We have a chance to play a team from Spain or Italy, but playing Madrid would be really good.
"It would be better to play a Spanish side than an Italian one, although it would not be bad to meet Milan and gain some revenge for the final last season.
"But it is all the same really, as we know that the level will be very high."

I do know of that, but Frank in all fairness we have better players than you and so while he might/might not score I expect to have a big influence on the game from our point of view of course.

Plus judging from his comments since he pratically joined us, he is a loot more chilled out than when at Atletico where you you, me and everyone nows he had a massive amount of pressure on his young shoulders.

I think Johnny Evans kept Torres quiet when Spain played Northern Ireland in Belfast last year but its ironic that maybe this season Torres could have done better than last season at Atletico Madrid!

better players yet he scored regularly v Barça, but couldn't against RM, me thinks thats clutching at straws.
thats the big test for him imho now. by his own admission the game in england suits him better, BUT will he be able to handle the pressure when he inevitably at some stage as all strikers do go 8 or 9 games without a goal.
his decision making hasn't got any better either judging by the other night, and v newcastle still makes loads of errors of judgement when given a little more time than normal
AND as for better players well we are better out wide in midfield, have equally good strikers, if not better. A CM & LB who is as good as anything you have. what we are lacking is a RB, GK, and a CD (Perea and Pablo as are good as all but 1 of your CB). Then we just need time to gel, this is still a new team but things are v promising, we are so much better off without Niño, regardless of how good people think he suddenly is.

The entire Spain squad bar Xaxi I think it was were extremely poor
To single out Torres from that game just shows up ppl's agenda even more so, I'm not saying your one of them Rai as your one of the extreme minority of Mancs here I take any interest from reading your comments but its an absurd example to use.
Frank:
Again like I and a couple of other L'pool supporters here have said, we know he isn't a clinical finisher of the likes of Eto'o, RvN and Inzaghi but he can score goals in a season where everybody (incl yourself lets not forget) believed he would struggle and how he'd be a failure.
Maxi= very good player who I wouldn't mind seeing at LFC on day.
Ageuro = As above.
Simao = Good technically and good dead ball specialist.
Pablo = Someone I like aswell.
Your very quick to defend your players, but extremely quick to dismiss our players without hesistation

Pablo has been poor this season, Simao has started slowly, you've missed out
Forlan who has been exceptional in Spain (dismissed by you, as with many EPL watchers, cos he was poor at utd.), he is a far better player for us than Torres ever was.
This is the main reason why i still think all this WC for torres is bullsh¡t failed in 1 league a third of a season in EPL and he is suddenly WC, yet nobody would dream of mentioning Forlan despite 2 and a third quality seasons here. all because he is deemed a failure from his OT days. It sums up the EPL hype on here, and the lack of either knowledge or respect for other leagues particularly outside the big 2 or 3 in each of these leagues.
Raul Garcia - who within 12 months will be as good as anything you have, superb player.
Maniche - who can frustrate, but is far more suited to Spain than England, again dismissed by EPL watchers as he was v average for chelsea
Luis Garcia - who again is far more suited to Spain than England.
Perea - is prob. better than Pablo
as for Torres, he's surprised me thus far, BUt as he himself said its too early to judge yet, for me he'll have to be performing like this next season too when defenders will have sussed him out

I have no agenda with Torres just highlighting that Evans had a good game. Also had a good game last night. But I wouldn't go overboard with Torres in his first season and I wouldn't say he was a 'flop' if it went the other way. But signs are good and that is encouraging.

Really? And what the definition of good is?
Winning the group? To qualify to the second round?
I think we've covered it all so far.
Of course if you only look at the hypes of the media and most of the fans we are the weakest in pot 1 but then again so were we at 2004.
Club names do not play, players and teams do.
We'll see who's the lucky one in Fev.

Inter - top of italian league (sorry but stronger than portugal)
Milan - experiecned v good in europe even when Cr@p in italy
Madrid - top of La Liga, experienced, getting v good at grinding out results
Barca - on their day would beat naybody too risky too want them
Seville - v good at home, struggling in the league prob next best bet
man Utd - again on their day can beat anybody too risky although again prob a better bet than most of the others
chelsea - good at grinding out results, again better than some but still difficult
there'll be no easy games BUT on balance i think you'd have to fancy Porto before the others with only Seville close by

Porto and Sevilla are indeed the 'easiest' draws for Liverpool and Arsenal however as Benfica showed a few years back you can't under-estimate anyone in this competition
