They definitely need a CB. And a DM would be useful too. Perhaps that DM will be Camacho, but he's very young. Motta is good, but is either injured/suspended. Garcia is a CM (i.e. he contributes in attack and in defence) - he really needs someone equally competent alongside him, or an out an out DM. Banega would have been perfect, but there are others who would be worthwhile acquistions, i.e. Oubina. Obviously they're crying out for someone like Garay, but they'll no doubt waste their money on Tiago.
That's of course the bane of Atleti's problems - their transfer policy. Reyes has and always *was* going to be a disappointment. L Garcia has also been largely ineffective, and was another unecessary buy. Cleber Santana looks to be a good squad player, and in the case of Motta - he was always going to miss more games than he plays. Their defence was the obvious weakness in their game, and they done little remedy it.
Out of their recent signings, only Kun & R Garcia have noticeably improved the team. I've never been Forlan's biggest fan, as I find him incredibly wasteful and erratic, but he's a hardworker and I believe he and Aguero have form part the most successful partnership in Europe this season, so I'll cut him some slack too.
If they do qualify for the CL, they'll definitely need to spend (yet more) money in improving the side, because they're liable to get ripped to shreds, and their attack (Aguero) can't keep bailing them out. The kid's 19, and their reliance upon him has pretty much forced him to play every game. He'll tire before too soon. Simao, Forlan, Maxi et al need to step it up.
