I remember reading about that before the World Cup. Rather audacious move from him although it would have been priceless to see Jimmy Bullard lining up for Germany! Laugh

I can't remember the report too well now, was he genuinely serious or was it a bit of a prank?

    Weak area.

LB Ashley Cole first choice no doubt /Bridge/Baines ?/Shorey?

    CM-Hargy/Gerrard/Barry/Carrick/Lampard/ etc etc.

    Wingers- Ashely Young ,Cole,Agbonlahor,Lennon

    SS Rooney
    CF Ashton/Crouch/Owen

The formation would also be 4231 for me , Gerrard can play in middle or RM , Agbonlahor can play SS or RM as well as its a wing forward position.

What about the Bolton game we lost?

City was a mess, yes we dominated but no incisive balls in the 2nd half in the confusion of roles between Scholes dropping too deep, Carrick moving to the left side.

Spurs game we can all agree was a mediocre performance from central midfield and the game turned when ginger prince was introduced

We win these games in spite of them because we have a fabulous front 3, not because of them.

Can't agree there. They've played two or three times together, both were good against Spurs and we dominated against Citeh even if we didn't win.

We've discussed this on the man utd board before boys. Carrick likes to sit deep, Hargreaves as part of his job description does sit deep. No one occupying space up front of giving us a central presence in the final 3rd.

Also we know Carrick, takes him 5 games to get comfortable in his surroundings. By the time he gets to play well 1) England will be out of the reckoning because they don't have as talented a front line as Man utd. 2) He will still play badly after 5 games because the media will tear his confidence to shreds.

Yes that was the fault not the midfield , I love the Ginger prince but to say he turned the game against Spurs is a bit too much , a long ball from the GK route 1 turned that ,and ask anyone both Carrick and Hargy were good in the game.

I'm taking 3 games to decide it is not good enough, you are taking 3 game to decide that it IS good enough, what's the difference.

On Scholes making a difference, perhaps to say turned the game is over the top, but certainly his passing greased the wheels far better than Carrick and Hargreaves had been doing.

I'd rather have another striker on or put Bently/J.Cole there. And if we're desperate we can put Gerrard there. Anyhow, there is no way I would sub off Rooney for Lampard and there's no way I would play them next to each other.

    ARNAUD:

    GK: Foster

    RB: Glen Johnson

CB: Ledley King/Micah Richards/Lescott (have to have reserves as King is always injured)

    CB: Rio (C)

LB: A.Cole (Bridge is way better at football but he's not an athlete - I don't really like white fullbacks to tell you the truth)

RM: Bentley but under that c**t Ramos Lennon is looking way better than before.

    CM: Hargreaves

    CM: Jenas

    LM: Young

    SS: Rooney

CF: Heskey, Carlton Cole, Crouch or (I never thought I'd say this) Agbonlahor.

Amazing, Arnauds England team hasn't changed in years. Try and think up some new and improved overly controversial opinions mate. <Ale>

    -------------------Hart-------------------

    Neville--Ferdinand--Richards--A.Cole

    ---------------Hargreaves---------------
    Bentley----------------------------Young
    ------------------J.Cole-------------------

    --------------Rooney--Bent--------------

I would put Campbell in there as him and Ferdinand had a great partnership that was needlessly broken up, but we're preparing for 2010 so he's out of the question. King and Woodgate can't be relied on so they're out. So i would stick Richards in there, but the only problem is that leaves the unreliable Neville at RB with no good back up.

Also Owen is finished so that means Heskey is also out of the question.

Te he he, Lampard plays in the hole? Any how I said I would rather play a striker instead of him. The reasons I didn't put any AM is because I've already stated better ones. 1st of all Crouch can play there and J.Cole, Bently and even Gerrard. Even Dunne.

Some interesting choices but at international level that looks a pretty average team.

I know for many on this board (me included) Lampard is the antithesis of a footballer, but come on, he has more of an international record than the likes of Johnson!

Also, I've heard Neville described as lots of things, but rarely "unreliable"!

Still not convinced by Glen Johnson.

Richards should remain right back for all eternity- why convert him into a centre half when we have a plethora of central defenders already?

Pierre- what about Ashton? The big man is quality, anyone with a nuance of sense knows this. Will prove it when he remains injury free.

Young should certainly be in the team sooner rather than later - he is the missing set piece link since Beckham stopped becoming a regular. And he can beat a man.

I admire you putting in Jenas, as in my opinion he is looking a quality player under Ramos, but even I have to chuckle at the thought of him getting in infront of Gerrard and co

    Same old arguments

Reading this thread is like having a five year long sense of deja vu

The team will of course be largely the same as it usually is. The difference will come if Capello can prove to get more out of the same players than Mc'Clown did.

Yo Arnaud! After watching Carson not being able to save a free kick right down the middle, that was that for me. I will still go with James. Only reason I dropped him earlier was because of his age. For me, this is Capello's England when going for a must win.

Good luck to Capello! Hype aside, he doesn't have much to work with, but he's one of the best coaches around so I expect him to guide these bunch of overrated mostly talentless hoofers to reach a quarterfinal with Capello. He will overachieve with all the Cr@p he has at his disposal, pretty much just like Sven. Only difference is that in the recent past most English fans thought they had "7 or 8 world class players plus Rooney". They have in reality no world class players plus ZEROoney, but you already knew that. Biggrin <Ale>

I REALLY rate a team like Denmark, Sweden, Greece, Turkey and certaily Croatia higher than ENgland right now

    MAN for fucking MAN

Capello will park the bus, and make sure England don't lose very often

    even against good teams

    problem is

it will not be enough to qualify

    +

the people in Singapore , HK and Bangkok will completely fall out of love with England

the FA should have gone for Klinsi and given him 8 years to introduce long-term structural changes
