Quite right 1Trick - I suppose West Ham getting outclassed by the the reserves of a club most likely funded by the Cosa Nostra that plays in pink puts them on a par with us...

I'm immensely proud of last night, Ramos rectified all the strategic errors from last week, we had plenty of Chances (Bent Doh), but when Gomes made that World class save from Steed near the end, I knew it wasn't our night.

Great to see Zokora finally score a goal of sorts for us Very Happy

Im sure they Spurs learned from their mistakes last week, and let PSV make the game.

They did better against them, they were just unlucky they onlu scored once. PSV is awful!

This West Ham Vs Spurs thing really amuses me. After being battered 4-0 three times in a row, you would expect us Spurs fans to have been lining up to pop a few shots over your bow so to speak. But as I recall, not a flutter.

The reason? We just don't care enough I suppose. I hope you turn it around. Who knows, maybe West Ham will play in the UEFA cup themselves once again before the end of your lifetime Ale

Good luck to PSV too. Because they are going to need it if they play like that at home against teams higher than 11th in their respective leagues. Utterly dissapointed to see this from a Dutch side. We hold Dutch football in high esteem in this country, and in this neck of the woods.

Extra week off, playing at home, full strength side; I thought we would be given a masterclass. We weren't. Dont be playing like that against any of the German sides please, otherwise Otto will truly become unbearable ;-)

You've gotta say this is sour grapes Bernd. Spurs deserved their win last night but not by more than one goal (for a tie that only featured two goals over 210+ minutes, both goals were awesome to be fair), and PSV got progressively stronger as the tie progressed. Gomes's performance did help I suppose, but a mirror-image result was a fair reflection of Spurs' improvement and PSV sitting back and letting them make the play (at least to begin with).

You have watched them before, yes? As an Arsenal fan I can testify to the fact that they are, and remain, a very difficult team to roll over or outsmart over two legs. They're not about free-flowing non-stop attacking football, and the incentive wasn't on them to produce that last night.

Can't have your lot succeeding where we failed anyway, and tired, inaccurate clichés about Dutch football are neither here nor there Ale

They weren't perfect, but he made changes and they worked. The only clear chance PSV had was when Affellay got in after a Jenas-Zokora mix-up. Otherwise it was just Mendes shooting fom long, and some nice dribbles by FarFan and Dzsudzsak.

We were definetly the better team I felt. We missed our chances, and Gomes is such a dominant personality, that I knew we wouldn't win the lottery.

    lol!

@Allez - we're all allowed sour grapes from time to time, and considering over the two legs its fair to say we created more and did most of the attacking (Penis V's goal at WHL was down to an error from Gilberton on the edge of our own box rather than scintillating PSV approach play), I have every right to feel a bit P*ssed off that Penalties once again put an end to my dreams.

The save from Steed in extra time was where I was certain the game was won. So of course I was a little annoyed to say the least that we went out after dominating PSV in their own stadium. On cursed penalties. So add to all the other times it has been thus.

You will never understand this kind pain my German Arse loving friend Ale

It's a horrible way to lose, sure, and I'm gutted for you (what a shameless lie), and you've every right to think you created more, even if they weren't that many clear-cut chances (and think back to e.g. PSV's offside goal in the first leg...) – but that's the way it is against PSV, as Arsenal found last year.

You have every right to be upset but I fear you don't really cover yourself in glory by being sniffy about it – PSV don't have your financial resources and you can't fairly accuse them of being cynical and negative, getting away with throttling the life out of the game, etc etc. Arguably by extra time they were the better side once again.

That's the way football works though – Gomes was (not entirely unpredictably) the difference. It was a brilliant shot from Steed but the reflex save was just stunning, world-class – same goes for the save of Jenas's penalty, without which you were again through. Fantastic keeping and it shows there's more than one way to win a football match ok Ale

Yeah. If he were a bit better-looking he should maybe be the No.1 choice for Arsenal Wink

What pissed me off on the English commentary, both on TV and on my mobile phone too, is that (what with his collisions with Salcido etc) they were talking as if he was some kind of figure-of-fun clown, with typical insular English arrogance if I may say so – as if Robbo wasn't between the sticks at t'other end Doh

Did you hear Menzo & Van Breukelen on Gomes @ Studio Voetbal?

Basically they said gomes adapted very well to Dutch/European goalkeeping. They gave goalkeeper trainer Hiele a lot of credit for that. Bit weird Hiele got the sack, PSV's goalies have been top notch since he arrived. They get a Brazilian goalie trainer now.

He has a bit of the Grobbelaar/Barthez/Mad Jens goalie insanity, but far less than the guys I mentioned, so I wouldn't put him in the mad goalie category. Usually he's rock solid (had a few 'slip ups' yesterday).

lol! True. Very true. I am an incredibly sore loser. Infact, so far I have been quite reserved. Last night I was going bonkers I tell thee.

PSV have a fabulous pedigree. And the issue of money is indeed a telling one. Just give me a day to digest the fact that our season is pretty much over and I will rightfully applaud them for dumping us out. On penalties <Ale>

Really? The commentators seemed to be more concerned about how tough and hard Gomes was rather than labelling him a clown as far as I remember. Considering you were watching the same programme as me, it was the co-commentator I was thinking of, not the main one, who was fine. Who was he? Sounded an utterly biased Spud clown to me. It was when they were talking about "he won't want to buy him a drink after the game now" and all that, purely based on a few collisions – there certainly were moments when I was thinking "for feck's sake, he's better than any English keeper let alone Robbo, give him some respect, he's quite clearly a damn good one as you should be appreciating by now, and did you not watch him against Arsenal last year, etc etc".

Orange World on my phone was worse, openly calling him a clown and then having to admit that it was this very clown who was pulling off all those ridiculous saves and winning Penis V the game later on. I'll see if I can dig out some of their quotes later if you like...

A word on that man Berbatovski – if he played for my team I'd be as madly in love with him as the Spuds on here. I could watch that finish again and again, and have – just pure class. I think it's the elegance, the classy, languid movement, the impression he gives, as do only a few of the greatest players, of having all the time in the world on the ball – just glorious, artistic stuff. And you wonder why Arsenal fans are renowned for being a bunch of c*nts.

Lap it up. Most of you won't have stayed at a game long enough to have ever witnessed a penalty shoot out,

"Quick Jean Paul, the final whistle goes in 10 minutes - lets do one so we can beat the traffic!" (a liberal paraphrasing of the murmur that sweeps around the Emirates every Saturday, quarter to 5)
