Really don't see why they can't treat the Olympics as a special case. Would rather see a talented young Scot, Welshman, etc. get a chance than mediocre English player. (not saying all English players would be mediocre, just that it should be selected on merit.) If we compete in Olympics as Britain then all teams should be British. Interesting that Blatter caved in to Scottish objections. Really don't see why FIFA can't make exception for Olympics.

Another of his "opinions".
When I hear him agreeing with the English association directly or indirectly I may begin to care, until then you can't believe he'd even contemplate going through with half of what he says.

They almost certainly would, which is why the Olympics would have to be seen as a one off.

I am not sure what the big deal is. In the olympics i would be happy to have a uk team. It is wrong we don't usually have one anyway. For one tournament every 4 years what is the harm is joining the nations together?
If it was possible to have each nation then that would be good also but it isnt possible.

I think we should all enter as one European team, that way we'd show the USA and China who's the boss

Trouble is that there really aren't any world-class Scots, Walers or Nirons, whereas we have 22 world class players for England. So all the celts will get very upset and complain they are under-represented.

Most of them have to be under 23 anyway, so it should be used to give experience of international competition. At that level there would be some good non English Brits wouldn't there?

Don't know enough about Scottish team, but weren't many of them young players who did pretty well against world cup finalists Italy and France. Even if it is just the three you mentioned and but for SFA C0ck up they could have had Aiden McGeady as well. Majority would most likely be English, but there are at least some who would not disgrace themselves and should get the chance.

Well i think Mcfadden and d.fletcher have both turned 24 i could be wrong. Not sure how old Gordon is either. But yeah there would be at least 3 non english players maybe 1 or 2 more.

It isn't just an under 23 tournament - you're allowed I think 3 players over that age too (such as when Heinze played for t'Argies).

You are right, they can play three over 23 players, which is why I said most of them have to be under 23.
