West Ham United are set to pull off a major coup by the signing Argentine stars Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United were all thought to be competing for the duo, along with some of the continents elite including Bayern Munich and Milan.

However, The Hammers have struck a deal with Media Sports Investments (MSI) - who own the rights to the Corinthians pair.

South American sources claim Portsmouth were also in line to broker a move, but it seems MSI have decided that a move to West Ham will best serve their prize assets.

The deal is believed to be initially for a season-long loan for the duo - but it could become permanent if all parties are happy, although it remains to be seen whether West Ham could affor them with both players carrying price tags of over £15 million.

The pair are both currently already in England ahead of this weekend's Brazil versus Argentina clash at Arsenal's brand new Emirates Stadium and this has aided the move.

A statement on Tevez's website states a move to Upton Park for himself and Mascherano has been sealed.

"Carlitos Tevez along with his former Corinthians team-mate, Javier Mascherano, has signed a contract to play with West Ham United of England," read the statement.

What's happening guys? This MSI must be owned by Abramovich, That's why they don't want the duo to join the big clubs rather sign to West Ham??? I

The answer is Kia Joorabchain. He is the biggest stake holder in MSI. A couple of years ago he wanted to take over West Ham but didnt succeed. Maybe he is about to do it again now. And by getting two of the most high profile South American targets maybe he is warming his way into the Hammer board.

It's obvious. They are at WH on a season long loan which is to help them settle into the pl style and then next season Chelsea will buy them.

Come on, we all know that West Ham do not have 30 million to spend on players, and if they did they wouldn't buy only two players with the money.

It's obviously a season long loan to see if they adapt to English football (climate, food etc.) and if they do then Chelsea will swoop in come January or next summer.

If this is the case then all your criticism of Fergie is a waste of time - he can do nothing about Chelsea's superior money. If he went in for Mascherano and was told that Chelsea had first dibs on him then there's no point even negotiating.

But of course, Man U fans get jealous whenever anyone signs a good player, it's just their nature.

I doubt Mascherano or tevez will move anywhere over the next day.

What if they screw up (Tevez meets Ben Thatcher) - Chelsea could turn them down and Corinthians will have trouble attracting the money.
