Tevez & Mascherano to stay for the season. Empty Tevez & Mascherano to stay for the season.

Post by Machiavel Thu Nov 23, 2006 10:48 pm

West Ham manager Alan Pardew has been given encouragement that he may be able to keep Argentines Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano after discovering they cannot sign and play for another club this season.

The pair moved to West Ham from Brazilian side Corinthians in August at the prompting of Iranian businessman Kia Joorabchian, who brokered the deal and was hoping to buy the club.

But when a consortium led by Icelander Eggert Magnusson agreed to buy West Ham this week, rumours started to circulate that Tevez and Mascherano would move elsewhere during the January transfer window.

FIFA regulations, however, forbid players from signing and playing for more than two clubs during a 12-month period from July 1st to the June 30th.

Tevez and Mascherano played for Corinthians in July and August before their transfer deadline day move to West Ham, meaning they would not be permitted to sign and play for another club until next July.

A FIFA spokesman said: "Our rules say players may register for up to three clubs in that 12-month period, but may not play for more than two."

Pardew still wants the World Cup duo to succeed in the Premier League after a turbulent start to their West Ham careers.

"They're owned by the person whose takeover didn't happen, and that might be a problem," he told reporters on Thursday. "But I hope that they begin to grow here quicker than they have done in the previous period, and I think that can happen.

"Maybe the situation will work for them as well because they can settle down now and we can get the best out of them."

Man Utd do need another striker a midfielder player, maybe we could loan them from West Ham in Jan.

i don't think Tevez or Mascherano have been given the chance to show what they can do by Pardew.

I believe that West Ham will hold onto the pair untill the end of the season, because whoever actually owns the rights of their contracts, will realise the market is larger and therefore holds more potential to command a higher transfer fee next summer, the two players also buy themselves more time to prove their class and hold their reputation which in turn will relate to their transfer fee.

Who knows maybe they can adapt. I see it hard to happen because Pardew plays a very different football to what they've played their whole lives... Hope they can fins their place in WH's team , but if they don't I would just love Mascherano to be playing in Serie A...Deschamps?

Mascherano is moving to Juventus either in Jan or June, it's footballs worst kept secret.

mascherano would do nicely in Italian football, as well as gattuso.

Tevez is very similar to Rooney so getting him would be a waste of time.

If Hargreaves doesn't look possible then Mascherano would be a very good option to have alongside Scholes/Carrick.

Does anyone think there value has actually lowered since they have been at West Ham, there time at the club has been a disaster to be fair.

    And he's not as good.

Hmmm, Mascherano doesn't seem to have the engine that Man U really need in their midfield. I could be wrong, having only seem him in the WC for the Argies and a couple of performances for West Ham.

Yes, without any doubt. I'm still puzzled as to why Pardew has to ask Joorabchian's permission to sell the players, when he stated when they signed them that they were West Ham's players.

Lying bastard. I'm sure that they've broken the rules with these two, and it may come back to haunt them.

    No thanks to Tevez.

Mascherano I wouldn't mind, however anything over £10 - 12 million with there recent performances would be ridiculous.

The thing is nobody knows their value since they are owned by the iranian dude, and he would probably make the transfer figures to stay out of the public eye...money laundering?...who knows ...anyway he(Masche) would be a very good replacement in midfield for a team witha more playing style...

As Cesc-Fab has said; if Man United cant get Hargreaves ... then Mascherano would be ideal (he has not been playing well for West Ham as he has not shown his potential by not getting enough games, thanks to Mullins ..)

But cost is another point and plus SAF does not want a player in his side that is not contracted to the Club (i.e. who will own the contract of Mascherano ..) but maybe things can be sorted.

No, but their will be games when a DM is required, no offence to Carrick but i see him more of a playmaker (in the long run)...

    ----------------- Mascherano
    -------------Carrick --- Scholes

    ----- Ronaldo ----------------- Rooney
    -------------------- Saha

Plus Manchester United will strengthen in depth ..

At the moment it is working, no doubt about that. But once injuries suspensions and fixture congestion start to happen you may have O'Shea and Fletcher in their positions before you know it.

I'd say most of EPl's top teams that play the ball more instead of hoofing the ball constantly in the classic insular style..but whatever the club he clearly needs time to adapt to the playing style, the living,...god that must be annoying...living surrounded by ppl who you don't understand...and not understanding the language too Wink
