Nevland is on
Lita's on loan at Charlton having publically declared his dissatisfaction at a lack of first team opportunities.
I don't think he's getting into the Charlton side either

Newcastle have just got away with a blatant handball in the box. Awful refereeing.

Re: Weekend
Taylor blocked the shot with the sole of his boot, and it bounced up behind him and struck his hand. He didn't move his hand towards the ball at all, and when the ball struck him his hand wasn't in a bad position. I don't think the rule on handball is clear, I think handball is a tricky subject - if a ball is flying towards goal and a hand stops it, part of me thinks something should be awarded whether the handball was accidental or not. In this case Taylor had already blocked the shot. But whatever, I don't think it could be called anything other than accidental handball.

Re: Weekend
Oh well, you can't win em all. Generally we were more dangerous, but Pompey had their chances aswell. Neither side can really complain with a draw. Quite entertaining for 0-0 aswell, both teams attacked.

Re: Weekend
Yeah, it wasn't a bad game. Neither team quite clicked today, moves weren't quite coming off and the shooting was wayward, but both had good spells of attacking play. I thought we edged the game, and generally I was pleased with the performance and the result. It was nice, after a spell of wins, to at least not lose, to put in another solid performance, and against one of the better sides that we have played lately - a side challenging for Europe, still with something to play for, and with home advantage.
I thought the game highlighted a few of our flaws. The front three didn't work as well today as they have been working - Viduka didn't have a great game and looked tired; Owen missed a couple of very good chances; Martins was our best player I thought, constantly looked threatening, but either his attempts on goal were slightly high or wide, or he'd run into trouble, or other players wouldn't make the best of his chances. It's sometimes difficult to know whether he takes too many touches at times, or whether he's actually doing the right thing and coming very close to working a real opportunity.
I thought Enrique had a decent game today. He is pretty skillful with the ball, and he can be very strong defensively. I don't think he thinks enough, but he has come on since the start of the season, and Keegan seems to be putting a bit of faith in him. It will be interesting to see what happens with him in the summer, whether we sign somebody to play ahead of him or not. Obviously, in his first spell, Keegan played attacking fullbacks in Watson/Barton and Beresford - which, incidentally, is another point on the debate about Keegan's tactical astuteness - his defence did work well as a unit, it was just an attacking defence.
The midfield isn't strong enough. Geremi didn't put in a single good corner from eleven attempts today, and though he can work well as a pivot on the right of midfield, and can put in some decent free kicks, I'd still be inclined to replace him with Milner when he is fit. Barton isn't impressing me in any way - though he's not as poor as he was, he still contributes very little, and he doesn't strike me as an honest player or a team player.

Re: Weekend
Surely that should be either a penalty or a booking? And if the ref doesn't believe it's a foul he should book Gerrard for diving. There was maybe some slight contact but Gerrard was going down before there was contact to try and get the penalty.
