...has she handed the title to Chelsea ?

If she hadn't snuffed it - The Special Kike would have tried to play him and Ballack, stifling the Kraut and losing either Mikel or Essien in the process.

    Just a thought.

Interestng theory. Although Lampard was one of Chelsea's better players in the ECL game against Liverpool. Certainly there best midfield player,

so who knows, was the performance today down to Grant and Chelsea,

or was it more down to yet another Ferguson tactical and personnel error, playing an odd formation and not fielding his strongest team (Silvestre? No Ronaldo, No Tevez, Giggs etc.) and in effect doing a Benitez?

Personally, I think that helped to make Chelsea look good. Lampard has been a top player for Chelsea, whatever the people on this board think - they didnt win 2 titles with him for nothing.

Why is it that when most footballers mothers die no one even hears about it but when it is Lampard's he invites the press into the fucking hospital to record her last moments along with his 'grief'?

    Old boys network? Media whore?

Like the Maddy McCann story, pressure is coming from somewhere.

Wasn't Boumsong's mother very ill/dying when he joined Newcastle ?

Don't remember that being used in his defence.

Nah, he didn't really, but we've had nearly two weeks of interviews and reports about her fucking medical situation when no one outside of the family and her friends can possibly give a $h!t. Why? Because the Lampards (English football aristocracy) want it that way...

I don't think it's been reported any more or any less than any footballers other personal lives. See Ashley Cole's wife or Ronaldo or Kuyt's dad. We all know about it because Chelsea are challenging for the league and because Lampard missed a key game.

We never had a daily media update on Ronaldo or Kuyt's dad's medical conditions.

I'm not so sure Pampard has dominated the headlines, just that as football fans we're more aware. When footballers have babies, weddings etc we get similar updates. I don't think it's a big deal but feel free to add it to your list of things to be righteously indignant about if you must.

Gilberto was a key member of that side. No idea who Gilbeto is.

I think he's not very talented, and somewhat fortunate to have the money, reputation and medals that he has. But essentially, you're right.

Must have been hard for them to have carried a player who scored somewhere in the region of 40 goals for them in those 2 champions winning seasons. Including the 2 that won them the title at Bolton the first year.

Im no subscriber to the Fwank Lampard Fan Club, but there is no denying that the fella has been integral to Chelsea's success over the last 5 years.

Whether they play $h!t on a stick football or not is irrelevant - they were never going to play flowing briliant football in the short period of time that they bought almost a completely new team

    That's a very flawed opinion.

You are looking at what a player gives to a team without looking at what he takes away from it.

Something people used to do with Ruud - myself, LRD and others saw that if Ruud went the goals would be made up elsewhere and they would be a better team for it - they won the title when he left and their performances in CL have improved + they are still on course for this year's title.

If you put, for example, Mathieu Bodmer in Lampard's place - he would score probably 5 or 6 fewer goals than Lampard due to the fact that he wouldn't be penalty taker.

all this would mean is that Drogba (a decent penalty taker) could add the 5 or 6 pens to his tally plus, unlike Lampard, Bodmer would be able to cut tdefences to pieces with his outside of the right-boot passes leading to further goals for the striker.

Plus they could then have corners/free-kicks taken by someone who can actually do it properly - Bodmer's superior physique would then allow him to pay dividends at corners.

Plus Lampard's contribution to games against the rest of the big 4 is negligible - the points you pick up against your rivals can make all the difference.

It could be van der Vaart rather than Bodmer but do you see the point ?
