he's still played far more than owen I imagine (though I cannot be bothered to look it up), and benjani was doing better at portsmouth than defoe has done

    8 in 10 ????

Benjani scored 7 in his 1st 45 games ! Laugh

EDIT: Owen has 10 in 22 starts (+ 5 subs), Defoe (including Tottenham) has 12 in 13 starts (+16 subs).

actually his stats are impressive with 8 in 10. I especially liked that goal where he got the vaguest of touches as it flew into the net from another player, can't remember the game now. Benjani scored 12 for portsmouth in the first half of the season. Who knows what defoe would have done at portsmouth in previous seasons as they were quite up and down.

as for owen he's scored 10 goals for a struggling team while at the same time struggling to get back to form after a serious injury.

I know you love to bring up "starts" in your stats when it comes to defoe, but that just points to defoe not being good enough to start at spurs Wink

defoe: 12 goals in 29 games
    owen: 10 in 27
    benjani:15 in 34

Defoe is doing great and right now deserves to be in contention for the england squad, but even at his best he is only just better than owen's worst. Is this defoe's best ever season? And coinciding wioth owen's worst? And even then there is not a great deal between them.

    You can see................

Defoe 12(Pompey have hit the wall so to speak with their league form)
Rooney 12(depending on his dodgy hip)
    Gerrard 11
Owen 10(metersal/ligament injury always around the corner)

scoring I'd say a couple of more goals.

Liverpool have Man Citeh at home on Sunday and then Spurs away on the last day. WHL always provides goals so would it be wrong to Gerrard as favourite. Well if it is, your opinion doesn't really matter Laughing
Might have another game as well but I cannot remember for love nor money who is it againist.

I'd agree with that esp when you consider Lamps, Gerrard, Owen and Rooney have had their injury problems over the season.

Defoe we all know about his situation at Spurs.

And Agbonlahor who really is the only one to go through the season without a major injury.

I agree, I wasn't saying anything else...just that no-one's had a great season, i.e. no-one's got close to the 20 mark (5 shiny points for whoever can name the last Englishman to hit 20 league goals in the prem? and 30?)

Imagine how many Defoe would score if he wasn't offside 900 times a game and didn't miss so many sitters. Shocked
