Or even worse the one tht made it 3-3..1 little touch from Ferdinand and Tarrabt fell over like someone kicked him in the face...
And Spurs wonder why they and their players are hated...

Wayne Rooney.
By his own (high) standards, he's had a poor season, but still gets his own compilations every MOTD.

Very predictable Kimbo, I mean I was just waiting for you to pick A.Lennon. Ofcourse your completely wrong though. No-ones saying his the English savior or his the most talented younsgter since pele, like Walcott and a certain Rooney...
We both know he has a few area's to improve on and another thing is, this seaon he has rarely been hyped up, like he was last season....

Re: Most Hyped Englishman of the Season
You're right about most of his hype happening last season, despite N'Zogbia totally blowing him out of the water. Going into this season your average gullible football fan already rated him as one of the best in the league.

Re: Most Hyped Englishman of the Season
Though his improving all the time. This season, he's becoming more of a rounded player. His not just using his superb pace and touch as his main asset's, but his final ball is improving, hence his assist stats is in a steep upward curve. Though I ain't saying his World Class or the best in the league just yet, but he may have the potential to be one, if he tries to improve his game as he is doing right now....
Back to the question...., I still think Lampard still get too much praise/hype from the media.....

John "super man" Terry.
Blaming all of Chelsea's defensive deficiencies on him being out injured yet they've miraculously disappeared with the return of Petr Cech.

You're a stand up comedian- NZogbia has never blown him out of the water.
And after yesterday, the mere mention of Lennon as "overrated" after winning that penalty with a touch of pure class and setting up Tainio with the sublimest of mid air backheels is just ridiculous timing. At least wait until he's just played a bad game so you can get your ritualistic dig in

Re: Most Hyped Englishman of the Season
No point reasoning with him, in his eyes N.Zog is better than Lennon and Lennon is overated and hyped.....Like I said to him, he ain't the best in the league (Though I have no idea whatsoever were/whom he got that from) and he ain't World Class just yet, but his got World Class potential and his improving all the time.
People don't see how Lennon, unlike last season, is improving his awareness of other's, his decision making is better and the result his End product (For which Kimbo determines every player in the World by...) is so much better this season.
But his a little bitter that Zog isn't proclaimed to be the next big talent in the League, like Lennon and rightly so. Milner is better than Zog and Lennon is just about better than Milner and pisses all over "The Zog"...

London hype
Yeah I know Kimmy's game. His timing is piss poor - criticising Lennon when he's played badly makes sense, but not when he's just set up 2 goals. Poor judgement from our resident Geordie. Im embarrassed for him

The hype around Rooney playing well or poorly is always far too much.

Re: Most Hyped Englishman of the Season
Terry - poor for England in the World Cup, average for Chelsea so far this season, made out to be a crucial lynchpin in both teams. All this crap about him being made of steel and shaking off injuries is, as I think Glenn pointed out not so long ago, playing up to the auld image of the England captain with a bloodied bandage round his head looking like a war hero. Apart from heading the ball, I can't think of a single element of his game that is 'world class', yet this epithet is used in almost every comment about him.
Rooney - scores 5 in two games and then doesn't score again for two months. Having a poor season, and the odd hattrick and a bucketload of assists doesn't change that. Totally overshadowed by Ronaldo at the moment. As I've said a dozen times before, needs to stop playing his 'natural game' and learn how to wait up front for others to create the chances. All too often he tries to do everything himself and ends up getting in other people's way and being ineffective. Has been poor for England for over a year but is still considered a first pick on the off chance he has one of his brilliant days. McClaren is too gutless to either drop him or tell him to play a different way.
Lennon - overhyped, but no more than most good young English players are. Not scoring or assisting as much as the statistics-driven fans would like, but if you watch him over 90 minutes you can see why he's considered such a threat. Reminds me a lot of Cristiano Ronaldo at the same age, though he hasn't got the same excellent technical ability. Dribbles a bit too much, often over-complicates his game but young enough to learn. However, he may face the same problems as Rooney whereby no one has the balls to tell him 'don't do that, do this'.
Walcott - can't control a ball, can't cross a ball, scored once in over 13 months for Arsenal despite being a good finisher. I have no idea why he went to the World Cup just to sit on the bench sucking his thumb, and was by far the crappest of the youngsters Arsenal played in the Carling Cup this season. Apart from a lot of pace, which he hasn't learnt how to use any better than he did over a year ago when he was at Southampton, he's an average footballer. But of course, he plays for a media-friendly, fashionable London club who are chock full of overhyped players, so it's no surprise.
I don't include Gerrard because apart from the opening couple of months where he looked tired and disinterested, he's actually been a very good player for most of the season. Lampard is having another good season for Chelsea but is still shite for England, and he's not getting a MOTD compilation every week where the editors desperately search for a successful tackle to show that he's 'the complete midfielder', so he's off the hook. And Paul Robinson (not the one-legged wonder from Neighbours) is finally getting the criticism he deserves for being dodgy on long range shots and having suspect kicking. Unfortunately, this has largely come off the back of one fuckup in the England game where the ball bobbled on the turf, which was a freak incident that he could do nothing about. Nonetheless, the press as a whole have realised that he's not a world class keeper, but simply the best of a mediocre bunch.
I dunno who else to include - Rio Ferdinand is having a good season (notwithstanding ten minutes of madness against Arsenal) and is getting a fair amount of recognition for it. Carragger is, if anything, underhyped and underrated. Gary Neville is doing what he always does and is widely hated for his personality but respected as a footballer, which is probably about right. As with Robinson, Ashley Cole is finally being portrayed as the limited player that he is, rather than the 'best leftback in the world', which people were so fond of calling him in his last couple of seasons for Arsenal. But as I've said before, play for Arsenal and you'll be overrated, it's as simple as that. I still can't believe that he gets picked for England ahead of Wayne Bridge, who is a better footballer and has a better attitude (chain-smoking aside), but isn't as quick.

I'm not convinced, as I've seen numerous good moments from him this season. On the other hand, I've only seen him over a full 90 minutes a couple of times, so perhaps I'm not judging his form that accurately. On the other hand, it's not like the press have been blathering on and on about him as they have in prior seasons, so to call him overhyped is dubious.

Take it your still a little annoyed about yesterday?
Loss or no loss, it was a blatant penalty. Bowyer air kicked infront of him, nowhere near the ball, contact clear as a whistle.

Seemed like a clear penalty to me - lennon touched it on, Bowyer came in, took his legs.
You don't get much more clear-cut than that

Took his legs?? what are you on about Tweeds..he touched his knee...(Touched it on means lost control I suppose) but saying lost control would make the clear cut claim look silly...he tumbled,he fell over he dived..it was not a penalty!

Re: Most Hyped Englishman of the Season
Lennon went down easily, but Bowyer made it too easy for Lennon to exploit the situation. If the ball wasnt going out of play and he had a direct run towards goal, he would have stayed on his feet, but it wasnt.
Despite all that, it was a penalty, not as clear cut as Sahas on saturday, but thats a different topic.

It was! he made no contact with the ball, but he did make contact with the player, in my book thats a penalty
