Daniel Amokachi
Marc-Vivien Foé
Zinedine Zidane(was my 1st)
Patrick Vieira
Robert Pires
And the one that tops them all is:
The board's most hated footballer.
Shame on you all for hating such a beautifull footballer.

Got any pictures of Henry actually playing football, or just ones of him diving and pulling odd facial expressions?
Beautiful footballer? If you call only being effective in one team, on one part of the pitch, and repeatedly diving on the biggest stage beautiful then I suppose so...

Recent past: Ronaldo (NOT cry baby), Baggio, Totti, Henry, Giggs
No longer playing: beardsley, gazza, le tissier, gullit
The above is by no means exhaustive and reflects where I was living and the league I paid attention to, and my memory.
There are plenty of other players I like/liked but were not favourites eg beckham, schmiechel, crouch, zanetti, gattuso, ledley king etc.

and it was his face clutching against puyol that was the problem. There might be a few dives out there but on the biggest stage only the puyol one comes to mind, so the "repeatedly diving on the biggest stage" is not exactly correct
I guess while I'm at it, he was good in the box, and on the left up front. Hell he was so good he could take the ball in his own half and run half the length of the pitch and then score. That's quite a few areas of the pitch .
Anyway not to get into a another henry debate here, but the thread is about favourite footballers, you named le tissier, and no one said fat, unambitious etc. You should just accept that people have their favourites for whatever reason it is. The thread isn't "name your favourite footballer so everyone who doesnt like him can have a go".

Following sainst example above:
Cantona was/is one of the most over-rated footballers on the planet
Did worse than henry in other leagues and for his national team and in european competition, and was the best player in the 4th or 5th best league in europe for 2 or 3 years while playing for the richest team in that league. Mixed in with his good skills was the elbows, dirty tackles, bad sportsmanship etc. Rooney already does whatever he did and more.
L.r.d wrote: He was the standout player in the league for at least 4 years, with two different teams. He was a level above everybody else and a true inventive genius.

You may believe that but it's opinion not fact.
Apart from 93/94 he never scored more than 14 goals in all competitions in a season. He never had much impact at an international level. He wasn't even the best player in the Man U team until Kanchelskis left.
Edit - just checked and he has a better international record than I remembered - but still his main achievements were falling out with managers and being banned for tournaments.

Cantona was good, but he wouldn't get into many current EPL sides now. Schmeichel would
