Help me win the Euro Championship

So, my village where I live makes this Euro 2008 tip game. You make predictions for the outcome for all games and can win some money.
One sheet costs 10€.

I dont want you to fill it out for me but i would like to hear some opinions. I saw some already signed sheets and most of the guys going for a Germany - Italy final game there. So i thought its better to predict a bit different if i want a chance for the "title".

the point system is the following:
correct result: 5 Pts
tendency: 3 pts
goals: 1pt (e.g. your prediction for swiss - czech 2:1 and the game ends 0:1 you get 1 point. If it ends 3:1 you get 3+1=4 points.)
Correct team prediction for quarter final: 5 Pts
Correct team prediction for semi final: 7 Pts
Correct prediction for final team: 8pts
correct champion: 10 pts


At the moment thats my prediction after group stage:
Czech Rep - Croatia
Germany - Switzerland
Holland - Sweden
Spain - Italy

Croatia - Germany
Holland- Spain

Germany - Holland


My thoughts:
- Portugal is overrated
- One host will make the cut -> swiss
- Sweden or greece is very tough decision
- Iam going for Holland over France in group C
- I will predict Germany for the final, they are my favorites among Group A + B
- Prediciton on group C + D is very hard.
- Its hard to predict the czech rep imo


If you guys want, we can make this as forum game here too. I would host it and calculate your points. Opinions?

Czechs wont make it past the group stage.

Portugal have an easy draw, and not many fancy them so i'd say it's better to go with positive results for them.

2-1 and 1-0 and 1-1 are the most common scores. So if you think a match will be a draw always put 1-1 not 2-2 or 0-0

Hm ok, maybe ure rigth and i will change Portugal and czech...

good point l.r.d with the 1-1 results.

Be careful of Lrd though as he is incredibly biased (his favourite player plays for Portugal)

Germany is as good a bet as any (as far as one of the favourites go)

Russia & Croatia are decent teams and you'll probably get very decent odds on them. may well be worth punting on them as dark horses

Why is Sweden and Greece a tough choice....neither of them will qualify mate, Russia are awsome.

Watch out for Greece, they walked it in the qualifying, albeit their group was a little easy.

I agree with you on picking Holland, people are not giving them enough of a chance.
