    U21s Euro Championship 2007 Empty U21s Euro Championship 2007

Post by bluenine Fri Mar 30, 2007 7:55 pm

This is a thread to discuss the teh U21 Euro championship this summer.

    The groups:

    Group A:
    Netherlands
    Israel
    Portugal
    Belgium

    Group B
    Czech Republic
    England
    Serbia
    Italy

Past winners Italy and Holland go in as favourites, but Portugal, Czechs, and England are mean teams too. Serbia are no pushovers, with their youngsters impressing in the qualifying. So who do you think will win this one??

And what line-ups would you like to see for your team??

England will have a chance if Taylor stays fit, the defence falls apart when he's not there. <Ale>

I'd like to see this team for England.

    ------------------Carson------------------

    Richards--Taylor--A.Ferdinand--Baines

    Milner--Huddlestone--Cattermole--Bentley

    ---------------Lita--Nugent----------------

Reo-Coker will start ahead of Cattermole though, for some reason he's the captain.

It won't be England. There is no one in our youth team which has the potential to stand out against all odds, every other national team seems to have that quirk. Going by that logic, it'll be the Dutch.

We've got enough talent in the team to win, as long as they play as a team then we should have a good chance.

I have a lot of hopes from this Azzurrini squad, its so full of amazing talent. The lineup (I hope)

    ---------------------------Curci (Roma)
    Potenza (Fiorentina)---Andreolli (Inter)--Mantovani (Chievo)---Chiellini (Juventus)
    Dessena (Parma)---Aquilani (Roma)---Montolivo (Fiorentina)--Rosina (Torino)
    ---------------Palladino (Juventus) -- Pelle (Cesena)

(Even tho in all probability only one of Montolivo and Dessena will play, they are a bit similar. So Nocerino instead then)

Subs: Coda, Dellafiore, Nocerino, Padoin, Rosi, Defendi, Rossi, Lupoli, Pozzi, Pazzini.

Waft, what do you make of young Palladino??

IMO the best striking talent with the Azzurrini, he has a great future.

Will he get a chance with the Juve team next season in Serie A, or will he be loaned out again?

I think you are in the tougher group.... Serbia youth team is very under rated, its probably better than the czechs and as much a favourite to qualify as anyone.

Infact Casiraghi picked them as the toughest opponent in the group phase.

I think he's supeb, shame he picked up a knock, because he'd definitely have got a run of games (scored a hat-trick in the last game). All the news from the club is that he has a great future in Turin, and he loves the club (and Del Piero, his hero), so I'm certain he will stay. He is actually tussling for a starting position currently.

Quirk factor's simply a "feeling". It's an assumption based on general trends. We may even reach the finals, but I don't believe we'll win.

Not really, we lack a top class goalkeeper. We have Vorm and Vermeer who i'd rather see play but I don't know how old Vorm is.
