Why is ManU 6th? Why isn't Real Madrid on there?

Because this is based on the last 5 years, and Madrid have been awful. Man. Utd. also went out in last place in the group stages 2-3 seasons back, so that hit their coefficient hard. And Barça won it, but twice lost in the round of 16, hence the middle ranking. Whereas Chelsea have reached the semis twice and final once!

The Inter-Cities Fairs Cup was a European football competition played between 1955 and 1971. At least we are out of dreaded number 2. That spot seems to have kept many great clubs stuck. Inter and Juve spring to mind. Can't count Barca there just yet because they only just got there.

that was limited to clubs from 4 countries, not exactly comparable. I think Fairs cup started limited to certain cities but became a Europe-wide competition

Nope, because like the Balkan Cup, The Alps Cup, and a few other international Cup competitions they were not open to all European countries.

The City Fairs Cup is the official predecessor of the UEFA Cup.
