I think you are being hard on Malouda.. the problem is that the idea of attack seems to be try to hit Drogba and hope that he can pass into a channel.. It is just too simple really.. It will work because of Drogba's quality but if he has an off day then..

There seems to be too many differing factors that need to be resolved IMO this summer.
Does Abramovich still want to see a more attractive brand of football ? If so there will have to be a change in transfer strategy from the more athletic, strong players that have joined in recent years.
Will the manager stay ? Was it Grants idea to sign him ?
Both these factors will play a big part in who Chelsea will sign this summer. I personally hope for a left winger and a striker

don't see how a team which finished 2 points off the title and lost the CL on penalties despite a mid season managerial change needs 3 new players

They're not doing bad for a team with such deficiencies, so "need" is a strong word. I don't rate Malouda at all though i must say.

it's not so much a question whether the two can play together; it's more a clash of egos

Ballack is the most complete and intelligent midfielder in the world; at the moment he has to share the leadership role with somebody else, which blocks everything

Terry is the other brake in the system: as a footballer he is VERY limited; as a leader he defines himself in oppostion to Ballack

Id replace Kalou with a nw left winger, shame you got rid of Robben. As the the striker id go all out for Eto'o. Put Robben and Eto'o in that team and you would win the league next season.

Have been quite impressed with Kalou's performances in the past couple of weeks, this should be the summer Wright Phillips leaves tho

Malouda has been disapointing. I thought he'd do really well this season.

I think a new winger, a striker if Drogba leaves should be enough now Boswinga has signed. Maybe an attacking midfielder to give you a different option to Ballack and Lampard, like a Deco type who they have been linked with.

There'd have loads of good subs as well - Cudicini, Bridge, Belletti, Alex, Mikel, Makelele, Kalou, Anelka.

Though not sure if Makelele will stay.

Kalou showed in the final that he has to be no.1 for the wide left position. Came on, cut inside a few times and played some lovely little balls through the United defence. He can open any team up at his best and he seems to be becoming more consistant.

Yeah, thats what he needs in his game, more consistency. Certainly talented enough.

I don't mind their posts - when Bayern get nowhere in Europe next season again, egg on their face.... again. When Ballack fails to deliver this summer for Germany, egg on their face.... again.

The irony is, i don't think anybody would say Ballack is a poor player, because that simply is not true, but the fact is he is not a player that can grab the game by the scruff of the neck at his age now and dominate, he can affect a game because he is dangerous in the final third, but he simply for my money has not scored enough to warrant ousting Lampard from the Chelsea set up.

In fairness there is only one German player whom i really admire and that is Lahm, they have a bunch of fairly decent players, and collectively are sound, but no real outstanding individual, much like England i suppose.

Comparing him to Malouda would have been so much more beneficial on all counts.

Malouda can go, SWP must go. This means at least one winger is needed but in truth everything depends on who will be the new manager and what formation they will play. Even if Grant stays, will he play the same way?
I hope drogba leaves -he is a twat and his presence does lead to chelsea's play being a touch predictable at times- even though he is a good striker.
Villa, Eto or Berba could realistically replace him in the current climate. Or all of them

Coleou is awesome!

I think vdv would indeed be a good choice to add some more creativity to the Chelsea midfield. You could also sign him for relatively little money...

Anyway, make sure you finally get rid of Pizarro. We need him back and we don´t have time until September...
