Chelsea players

Just thinking of players who could possibly make the shortlist for player of the season and you think of names like Ronaldo, Adeboyor, Fabregas (for his early season form), Ferdinand maybe Torres as well.

However I couldn't think of one Chelsea player who's really stood out even though they are very close to the lead in the league, in the final of the League cup and doing fine in the CL and FA cup. scratch

For the Chelsea fans who've watched most of the games, who have been the stand out players or is just more of a team effort?

I know alot of your star players have been injured, which may be a factor.

I know I didn't mention Hleb, Keane and Elano who could have decent shouts to at least be on the shortlist. Never thought someone would bring up Clichy though.

The Arsenal fans are desperate for someone to hype now Fabregas's goals have dried up (making his early season form a fluke) and RVP is injured.

It's quite funny that a team would nominate a pretty average leftback just because they're dying to get someone on the list apart from Adebayor (the only Arsenal player who has genuinely impressed me this season).

Apart from his "clanger" against Arsenal, Cech has been excellent (shouldn't have played against Villa - that was the worst management selection I've seen for a very long time). Belletti's exceeded expectations without being spectacular. Alex is starting to play well but again wouldn't say he's been world class.

Our players have been 'effective' without being 'world class' this season. So yeah, Cech or Joe Cole imo.

"dying to get someone on a list" Is that one of your main objectives for Southampton this year: Get more than one Southampton player nominated for players of the season. It ranks pretty far down for me funnily enough, besides such trivial things such as winning competions and leagues.

Besides, would you care eleaborate how Clichy is average?

Gaël has been incredibly consistent this season. Never less than a good performance and three or four man-of-the-match ones. Not player of the season form maybe (what full-back is ever in the running for such an award?), but Evra should be looking to his laurels as premier left-back in the league.

Clichy has been our most consistent player, is our only player to not have a bad game, leads the league in successful tackles, leads the league in highest % tackles, highest pass success rate out of any defender in the league and has the third most assists this season for Arsenal.
