The big change has happened, Mourinho in for Mancio. Mourinho was yesterday talking about 2-3 players will be brought in to complete the squad - which is great news for Inter. No wholesale changes that we feared, perhaps Mourinho can build on Mancio's good work.

    The Current Squad:

    Goalkeepers:
    JULIO CESAR
    ORLANDONI Paolo
    TOLDO Francesco

    Defenders:
    BURDISSO Nicolas
    CHIVU Cristian
    CORDOBA Ivan
    MAICON Douglas
    MATERAZZI Marco
    MAXWELL
    RIVAS Nelson
    SAMUEL Walter

    Midfielders:
    CAMBIASSO Esteban
    CESAR Aparecido
    DACOURT Olivier
    FIGO Luis
    JIMENEZ Luis
    MANICHE
    PELE
    SOLARI Santiago
    STANKOVIC Dejan
    VIEIRA Patrick

    ZANETTI Javier

    Strikers:
    ADRIANO*
    BALOTELLI Mario
    CRESPO Hernan
    CRUZ Julio

    IBRAHIMOVIC Zlatan
    SUAZO David
    Recoba Alvaro*
    Acquafresca Robert*

    Black = Definately Staying
    Orange = Not Sure
    Red = Definately Going
    *back from Loan

The goalkeepers are definately staying. In the defence, there are some doubts about how Mourinho rates Materazzi and Burdisso - there might be a change here. I think a top class CB or fullback will come in, and at least one of these players will leave.

Midfield will definately see some changes. Solari is as good as gone. There are some doubts on Stankovic, Figo, Maniche, Cesar and Vieira. Figo and Maniche were as good as gone if Mancio had remained, but with Mourinho they have a ray of hope. However, Stankovic and Cesar are now in doubt - they were Mancio favourites. I think Vieira will remain, he did enough in the last few weeks to merit a stay order. I hope Stankovic is not sold off, but I wouldn't mind to see the back of Maniche, Figo or Cesar. 1-2 replacements in this area are necessary.

Branca just confirmed that Inter are not in the market for strikers. Which means that Ibra, Adriano and Balotelli will surely remain. I think Inter might let go of 1 or 2 strikers among Crespo, Cruz, and Suazo. Out of these, Suazo must be given another season and he does look like Mourinho type of a striker. Cruz I would like to keep, even as a 5th striker, and he usually does not have a problem with that. I guess that means that Crespo is as good as gone. But you can never tell, this is going to be a very interesting summer for Cruz and Crespo. I also hope we don't sell Acquafresca, he had a bright future and it will make sense to loan him out again.

So who is coming in? I was hoping for Vargas, Diarra and Quaresma/Hleb - I think that was Mancio's plan. It will be interesting to see what ideas Mourinho has. Some new names are being floated, Carvalho, Lampard, Eissen, & Deco being the main ones the press is focuissing on. Will be interesting to see which of these rumours is actually true.

Hoping for the best. Forza Internazionale!!!!!

We want our 17th this season!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wanted Mancio to continue, but that didn't happen......

But above all, I want Inter to win, always!!!!!!!!! Whoever is the coach will get my support. Always respected Mourinho, I guess if Mancio had to go then we didn't do too badly by getting in Mourinho! Wink

My biggest worry now is that anything less than the title will be seen as a failure.... Mourinho has some high expectations to meet.

If Chivu is in Mourinho's plans, why would he want to leave. He is in a league where he is admired and where he clicks, playing for the champions, and the young star among an aging defence.

And I do think Chivu will be in Mourinho's plans coz Chivu is a very Carvalho-isque type of player.

Btw, I do think that Inter will now not go after Hleb, who was obviously Mancio's choice replacement for Figo.

Inter now become my favourite Italian team, just don't raid all our players! Wink

I have a feeling you might go for Carvalho and Lampard (who'll be good for Serie A games but obviously won't be 1st choice in the CL) and possibly Drogba (though if Adriano is staying this doesn't look likely). Ale

Its been a nice surprise, but he has stayed with us inspite of being second choice for 2 years now. He is 36, but as we have seen from whenever he is called to play, he is still top class!

Carvalho i would love to have (tho unlikely), Lampard I am neutral about (he is most likely), while Drogba we have no need for.

I am sure Mourinho has more targets than his former (chelsea) players.

I don't think we will sign Chivu, now that we have almost done a deal for Caceres, and already signed Pique. I'm glad, because I'm not amused by how he flirted with both us and Madrid last year, before eventually signing for Inter because that's where him and his agent got the most money.

Perhaps, but for many years now (long before Inter signed him) I rated Chivu among the top 3 most naturally talented CB's in the world along with Nesta and Carvalho. I have seen nothing to change my opinion so far. I think most people now have come around to think that of Carvalho (since his chelsea move), but I guess not everyone here is convinced re Chivu.

Anyways, just my opinion. I am not saying that these are the best CB's on form tho. Players like Ferdinand, Samuel, etc have been better last season. Just natural talent.

According to various press reports, Mourinho has put the following 5 players on the transfer list:
    Crespo
    Suazo
    Adriano
    Burdisso
    Stankovic

kinda expecting the Stankovic, Burdisso and Crespo transfers, but I do hope that Adriano/Suazo are just rumours.

    Quaresma on Mourinho list
    Wednesday 4 June, 2008

With Porto out of the Champions League, there are intensifying whispers that Inter will make a big-money approach for forward Ricardo Quaresma.

It has now been confirmed that Portuguese champions Porto won’t take part in next season’s Champions League due to accusations of bribery during the 2003-04 campaign.

Barring a successful appeal, Quaresma will not be able to play in the Champions League and he looks increasingly likely to quit the Dragons.

Fellow countryman Jose Mourinho has taken over the Inter hot seat and is believed to be considering linking up with the 24-year-old.

However, Porto are expected to demand in excess of £10m for Quaresma and there are rumours that Liverpool have already tabled a £12m offer.

Mourinho is expected to make three major additions to his squad before the start of next season and there are suggestions that he could axe some peripheral players to make space.

Enigmatic hitman Adriano, former Cagliari striker David Suazo and Argentine stopper Nicolas Burdisso are all possible departures.

I would think Deco would be a pretty strong possibility. He wants to leave Barcelona, Mourinho wants to revamp your midfield, they have their Porto days as a link. Just don't pay too much for him!!!!

Where the hell do these stories come from? Should he be evaluated at £10m does anyone actually believe Quaresma would still be at Porto?

How the hell do these people call themselves journalists when they constantly state inacurrate figures. It's not a small deal, it's pretty major when you claim to be a provider of 'news' and constatnly spit out innacurate information.

They wouldn't claim Messi is available for £10m, as it would be a complete joke and completely inaccurate, yet that's exactly what they keep doing over Portuguese players.

They're asking something like £30m. Get a fucking clue.

When I read this, I just assumed that FIFA article 17 was in force for Quaresma, so if he wants to leave he will cost much lower than his market value.

Its possible, specially if Quaresma has been at Porto for 3 years. Has he?

Mourinho Puts Five Up For Sale

According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, new Inter boss Jose Mourinho has put five senior players up for sale, including Hernan Crespo and Dejan Stankovic.

The Special One was unveiled to the Italian press for the first time yesterday, where he admitted that he had already begun his transfer plans for the coming season.

The Gazzetta says that Mourinho will put up for sale four members of Inter’s senior squad. The biggest of the quartet to be sold will be Dejan Stankovic, who was a favourite of former coach Roberto Mancini, but struggled badly for form and fitness last season.

One of Mourinho’s ex-players at Chelsea, Hernan Crespo, will also be offloaded, as will another striker David Suazo, who never settled since his move from Cagliari last summer.

Error-prone defender Nicolas Burdisso is the fourth player up for sale, and this is perhaps less of a surprise, given Mourinho’s defensive mindset.

Finally troubled Brazilian striker Adriano will also be made available when he returns from his loan spell at Sao Paulo.

The money that Mourinho receives for these transfers will then be used to fund two or three big signings, with Chelsea’s Frank Lampard continuing to be linked with a move to San Siro.

    http://www.goal.com/en/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=722858
It would be a surprise if he let Adriano go after such a fruitful spell in Brazil. The others less so, but Suazo would be a good buy for a constantly improving side such as Udinese.

When I read this, I just assumed that FIFA article 17 was in force for Quaresma, so if he wants to leave he will cost much lower than his market value.

Its possible, specially if Quaresma has been at Porto for 3 years. Has he?

He recently signed a new deal from what I understand, when his clause was pushed up to 40m Euros, although he's been at the club since 2004-2005.

I don't see him taking that kind of stance against the club, and considering it's a new deal, I don't believe he has the legal standing to do so in any event.

Suazo, I think he could be good for a lot of clubs outside Italy as well. Lyon for example or Sevilla/Villarreal... Porto could be interested if it wasn't for this CL thing... and I could see Benfica try to land him with Rui Costa in charge.

His wages could be a problem though.

kinda expecting the Stankovic, Burdisso and Crespo transfers, but I do hope that Adriano/Suazo are just rumours.

thought crespo was still on loan from chelsea?

    did inter buy him?

is mourinho getting his own back now, by getting rid of him Wink

Chelsea's contract ran out last season, and Inter signed him on a free. But now, someone needs to make room for Adriano. Or Drogba, depending on which paper you read!

Crespo's dislike was more at the Premiership than Chelsea/Mourinho. Out of the 5 seasons he was with us he only played for us during 2 of those seasons.

He's getting old now (by football's definition of old at least). Mourinho probably wants to bring in younger guys.

Burdisso is underrated IMO. He's a very good CB and can also play fullback. You would've assumed Mourinho would want to keep a defensive fullback like him.

Apparently Burdisso had a good game for Argentina last night too.

Quaresma heavily linked again today in the press.
