According to the player’s agent Leon Lambert, the signing of Samba is Hughes’ main signing priority ahead of the summer’s transfer activity at his new club.

The strong central defender has also been linked with La Liga’s Sevilla, with reports in Spain suggesting that the Andalucian side have already launched a £3 million bid in an attempt to secure his services.

And Lambert feels that the 24-year-old could be allowed to leave Ewood Park provided a bid of £4 million is tabled by a club, and has stated that he is not surprised City are being linked with his client’s services.

“I don’t have news about it, but I’m not surprised that they want him,” he said to Setanta Sports.

“Samba has been one of the Premier League’s revelations, Mark Hughes’ discovery, who right now wants him right now at Manchester City.

“The player could leave for €5 million (£4 million).”

Blackburn are hastily attempting to prepare for next season as they hunt for a new manager and aim to persuade the likes of David Bentley and Roque Santa Cruz to remain at the club.

Former striker Alan Shearer has already revealed that he has turned down the opportunity to be considered as the club’s next manager, with Sam Allardyce, Steve McClaren and Paul Ince the other main names currently in the frame to replace Hughes.

For £4m he would be a great signing, i hope we get him.

    A replacement for Richards?

Would Ryan Nelsen make a better partner for Richards if Dunne goes?

No, why would we sell Richards? he is happy at City and we have lots of money so dont need that.

Samab will be there to add competition with Dunne and Richards.

I thought he'd be more a replacement for Dunne. Samba - Richards could be just as impressive.

Samba is too much of an idiot to be a replacement for Dunne, he isn't an organizer. I don't see why Samba would leave if he didn't think he would be first team, maybe Richards will go to RB and Corluka to LB. scratch

Nah i doubt Corluka would go LB mate.

Yeah i know he will want to be first teamer but we will be playing in 4 comps next season and need a decent squad, if we get him he will get enough games to keep him happy, plus im sure we would give him a better wage than what he is on to Blackburn.

£4m is a great price, the lad is only 24. I hope we can get him in.
